Here’s to another great year with achumuchi in 2025.
For Japanese otaku, the year’s end is usually all about attending Comiket, but we decided not to participate and ended up spending a very peaceful New Year’s holiday.
Once the new year begins in Japan, places famous for “hatsumōde” (the first shrine or temple visit of the year) get incredibly crowded. Originally, people would visit the temple or shrine in their own local area, but the fact that many don’t stick to that practice is so typical of Japan — and that’s something I quite like. It doesn’t matter whether it’s Buddhism or Shinto; at this point, it might be less about faith or tradition and more like a party.
As for me, I just had a quick meal with my parents and siblings, so it wasn’t much different from my usual daily routine. In the past, gyms were closed over the New Year period, so I couldn’t train, but now there are many 24-hour gyms that are open all year round with great facilities. Some even have a workspace inside!
So, you can draw manga anywhere, and train anywhere!
The only problem is whether our bodies can handle it all! (lol)
Of course, we’re not going to push ourselves too hard; we’ll put our health first as we continue making manga this year. Stay tuned!
