Making of "cover black & blue 6"

English: A little behind-the-scenes content for a change! 😆 Some of you may have already seen this on Bluesky or Instagram, but I’ve now officially finished the cover for Volume 6—and I’m free! TuT

I’ve also been taking better care of myself, and things are looking up. 😄 So, I thought I’d show you the process from sketch to finished book cover!

The challenge with Black & Blue covers is always finding a composition that:

1️⃣ Leaves space for the logo in the upper left corner

2️⃣ Fits the theme of “characters in an urban setting”

3️⃣ Shows the faces big enough! XD

It’s not easy to balance all of that, but at least I had a clear idea this time! With the last volume, I was so burnt out that I focused more on effects than on the actual concept. It kind of worked, XD but I definitely like the Volume 6 cover a lot better!

The idea behind it was to revisit the comparison of kinks with sweets. Derek offers Gogo an ice cream (a kink). Gogo doesn’t have to buy the whole thing—he can just try a bite and see if he likes it. :3 And that’s exactly how it’s going to be from now on!

Volume 7 will shift focus back to the BDSM relationship—between the two… or rather, the three (Hanjo included). I really hope I’ll finally get to the club scene! But first, in Scene 13, Derek and Gogo still have to deal with the bandits. Then there’s another scene developing Davido’s character and role in the story. And then—hopefully—the club scene. XD Fingers crossed that it still fits into Volume 7!

I’m also attaching the cover without the logo—I think it would make a great wallpaper! 😍 Feel free to share!

Deutsch: Zwischendurch mal ein bisschen Behind-the-Scenes-Content! 😆 Manche von euch haben es vielleicht schon auf Bluesky oder Insta gesehen: Ich habe jetzt auch das Cover für Band 6 fertig und bin offiziell frei! TuT

Ich habe außerdem angefangen, besser auf mich selbst zu achten, und es geht bergauf. 😄 Also dachte ich, ich zeige euch mal die einzelnen Schritte – von der Skizze bis zum fertigen Buchcover!

Die Herausforderung bei den Black & Blue-Covern ist immer, eine Komposition zu finden, die:

1️⃣ Platz für das Logo links oben lässt

2️⃣ Zum Thema „Charaktere in urbanem Setting“ passt

3️⃣ Die Gesichter groß genug abbildet! XD

All das unter einen Hut zu bringen, ist gar nicht so einfach. Aber diesmal hatte ich wenigstens eine klare Idee! Beim letzten Band war ich so ausgebrannt, dass ich mich mehr auf Effekte als auf das Motiv selbst konzentriert habe. Hat irgendwie funktioniert XD, aber das Cover von Band 6 mag ich deutlich lieber!

Die Idee dahinter war, den Vergleich von Kinks mit Süßigkeiten wieder aufzugreifen. Derek bietet Gogo ein Eis (einen Kink) an. Gogo muss nicht gleich das ganze Eis kaufen – er kann einfach mal probieren, ob es ihm schmeckt. :3 Genau so wird es ab jetzt ablaufen!

Band 7 soll wieder mehr auf die BDSM-Beziehung der beiden – oder besser gesagt, der drei (Hanjo eingeschlossen) – eingehen. Ich hoffe sehr, dass ich es diesmal bis zur Clubszene schaffe! Aber vorher müssen Derek und Gogo in Szene 13 noch mit den Banditen klarkommen. Danach gibt es eine weitere Szene, die Davidos Charakter und seine Rolle in der Geschichte weiter vertieft, und dann kommt endlich die Clubszene. XD Hoffentlich passt sie noch in Band 7 rein – drückt mir die Daumen!

Ich hänge euch das Bild ohne Logo an – ich finde, das würde sich auch super als Wallpaper machen! 😍
