after i did the flats for yesterdays page i thought " i will do a quick set of renders for mar and try to make a cool pic quickly"......yeeaaaaah that last part did not happen

Why?! Looks to me like you got a cool pic in the end. 🤔👍 Or... did you try once again to get "the perfect pic that exists in your head"? We italians have a saying: "the grass "i want" does not grow even in the king's garden". You can never get what "you want", all you will ever get is a close approximation. And that's good. Close approximation by close approximation Achilles surpasses the Turtle. But only if you listen to "how it actually works" and do your work with "integrity" (okay... integrals, but that's besides the point) if you just look at how many steps you have to do, before doing them they will always appear infinite. 😉👍
