ok took oddette into blender and did some research on how to make my renders better within blender. then i did multiple render passes and put them together in photoshop like i did with the zbrush render

comparing the 2 i think blender will have the better render and it DEFINITELY has more control

I've seen people build cathedrals out of rocks, and i've seen people make sprawling dioramas out of toothpicks. Sure, they've artistic value. But "they don't sell"™ much better than "non exploration" art stuff. Such things get picked up later and become cult items, probably years if not decades after the artist was already done and over with that because not making money they could not continue in such thing. With digital art it's even worse. Very few people know the tools of digital art better than artists and they get constantly updated. So using "the wrong tool for the job" on purpose is not even seen as "exploration" because in a constantly changing world you're tagged as "an idiot" rather than somebody trying to make something interesting with awkward stuff. There is very little appreciation nowadays for art that is not quickly consumed and produced even quicker. And yes i do agree that's idiotic. I see people gaining traction making only nude fanart, which ... yes, it's not as easy as it sounds, and i'm not here to dis their decision. But it does mean that i get 40K versions of the same character and those artists then find it hard to sell anything that is not fanart. Basically rather than finding a niche and exploting it they've worked themselves into a niche and cannot get out. Most of the most famous artists i see here drawing fanart and/or NSFW fanart have great skills, but they basically can now only produce one thing. Fanart. Because that is what they will always and constantly be asked for. And that means that they cannot do anything else, because they lack the time and would cut their main substenance. But fanart can only sustain the artistic mind only so much, artists need to express themselves beyond the work of others. Copying more famous people has been what drove the artist economy since mecenatism in the 1600s, true, but usually people copying other people were either apprentices... or people which were basically considered "art whores", regardless of their actual drawing skills. And thus when you want to try new stuff. DO IT WHILE YOU CAN! Don't work yourself into a corner. Check new stuff, try new stuff, see if idiotic stuff works better than established things. I can suggest stuff, true, and i like when you answer, but try and also use your patreon money as a sustenance to try new things and not "just" to deliver the weekly folio. Of course you will have to deliver the weekly folio... because, as i said, you still need to sell the art. to keep going, and you're one of the quickest artists i've ever seen because you've developed a system that's art unto itself. Heck even doing 52 weeks worth of prerenders in december-january itself was genius, you can now safely deliver in 2 to 4 days what before took you a whole week and thus you've got half week left to try new stuff. THAT'S GREAT! Genius, really. But if my money helps you try new stuff with more ease and try to get more things out of your system before coming back to do the stuff you need to live. Then i'm happy to provide.

i have seen people do amazing renders in zbrush but you are right. blender does have more dedicated tools for rendering

Hatton Slayden

Eh, yeah, zBrush is a sculpting program, Blender is specifically for animation and render... sooo... yeah. No surprise there. I think zBrush should be better to create shapes and characters out of nothing, given what i heard... but you are a better user of them than me so i bow to your expertise. 😅
