Okay then. That is exactly what i would have suggested for practicing anatomy as it is what you stated you wanted to do. Using a picture or redrawing over a render makes one instinctively copy what one sees, but without reasoning behind the courtains about how the image should be drawn. The picture can then be used to check for shading and for proportions, and thus do self-corrections, but the first impact should be done by memory so that you can reason over the image. I've heard many artists say that drawing should be instinctive, but proportions are all but instinctive as our brains are really bad at projecting our thoughts into actual images and i've seen many an "instinctive artist" draw an image which would be gorgeous and highly detailed, but whose proportions were deeply unnatural and uncanny. This is why i said that your speed and the shortcuts you take are brilliant and i commend you for not relying on just them but also trying to do stuff like the kitsune or tanuki from past years to keep your drawing muscles still active, while still delivering an ungodly amount of really great pictures. Thank you very much

ooh i see now. when i used the 3d images as reference for proportions and land marks but the actual drawing is from what i remember. the more details i go into the more reference i will pull up

I'm a rambler too. So no problem there. What i meant was: since for once it is very evident that you did not redraw over the render... Did you go by memory or did you use a second screen as reference? They might seem similar but these two methods stimulate different "creativity muscles"

sorry i was afraid that if i kept on writing i would go into incoherent ramblings. character sheets are used for reference when drawing the same character for multiple projects. now here is where i fear i am going to ramble on so bear with me. the idea is that i draw proportion color and character reference. using my old models as some proportional reference and some base color, i will create a 2d reference sheet that double as anatomy practice. what i learn from the 2d i will transfer to 3d models and do more anatomy studies... meaning i will take portions of the model in various poses and create a high definition study of muscular structure in those poses.

🤔 So, rather than trying to draw over the models you're going by memory or by looking at them elsewhere? Or am i missing what you did? (it's not that you clarified much of it 😅)
