Quicky: About Fur

I am still working hard on the next Frost update and The New Fantasy Harem!
In the meantime i am thinking what i could share with you that won't spoil all the fun,
How about today we speak about something very imprtant, the thing that makes your graphics cards and your hearts melt.

In the Video above^
You see my new Fur shader in action, the last few times i only showed a partial implementation but now its ready! (at least for the lucky ones here with an 3060 and up graphics card.
Let me explain:
In all games i made up to now i used a technique called "Fur Shells"
UnderCoat:
You see in the image above that the fur is made out of different "Shells" that are arround the model itself.
They can have physics, even collision with the vertex shader, but they are missing something that only splines can bring.
They are relative cheap from a performance standpoint out, but also have their own set of problems....
They are not hairs....
So the Reflection of the light on longer hairs looks very "noisy" and is missing definition that only individial hairs can bring.
Fur:
You see i am using them combined to get the most out of realtime Fur,
The shells are forming the "undercoat" where the Fur needs Volume.
This image shows the Individual hairs for the Pony face.
The Splines are for the longer hairs that need good form over distance with an nice reflection.
This Fur will be the new Ultra quality setting, it runs with around 30fps on a 3060.
The really nice thing is, that those splines are made with something called Niagara which is basically just particles, i have full control over the "Spline fur" and it is really stable, i hope soon everyone will have a awesome graphics card :3
One thing i really like to do with this new Fur, would be a remake of my very first game, "Kitty Trainer" or "That Mirage blowjob game". >3

2021-12-09 22:43:32 +0000 UTCWell my graphics card is definitive not good enough for this, but it will take some time to a full game release as well, so who knows what the cards will cost then :) Is there only one point of touch at once, or will it be scalable to react to multiple points of touch maybe in a VR setting with the valve knuckles? Just some phantasy for the future :3 And will the paws stay so fluffy on the inside, or was it only fot the demonstrattion? Anyway it ist the most realistic fur in a game i've ever seen, and puts big game companies at shame haha.
