I wanted to give you guys a look at my process since I was getting some folks on Tiktok belly aching that I haven't uploaded a new 3D animation in like two weeks. (Gasp!)
My "longer" animations take a while because while a loop is nice and short and can be played over and over again. My longer storied animations take considerably more time to do and get better results.
So for those interested here is my animation timeline!
Make sure I have the licenses and rights to use the model
Write up an outline
Define the outline/script in an animation/scene table
Break those down into shot lists
Make a storyboard for the scenes
Download/Build sets and gather assets
Do a color bible/style sheet
and then we get to the actual animations.
Rough animation pass / Scene blocking
Animation smoothing / Inbetweens
Facial animation / Eyes, Eyebrows, mouths, cheeks and so on
Clean up
Pacing/Scene cutting
VFX
Color grading
Sound design
Voice over (if I can afford it)
Then I render it and do promotion to Tiktok, Twitter, E621, Reddit and Discord. All of this while balancing my normal work. This is not more effort than most put in but I personally think it's fun to show how much goes into all of this and don't see it as a "OH TREAT ME BETTER" but more a "It isn't easy but I like doing it" kinda dealio!
Either way I hope this gave you a good glimpse of my process and that you are looking forward to the future of these animations!
