A meet the artist post so you know who you are supporting. 💕

First of all, thank you all so much for being here. Whether you follow me on social media, are a free member here or have a paid membership, I appreciate you so much!

Meet the Artist

My favourite colour

I don't really have a favourite colour but I love all colours. I think my preferences tend to change from day to day. I have always enjoyed sky blue, coral and sunshine yellow, those three colours make me happy to look at, like a sunset over the ocean.

What inspires me?

So many things!

When it comes to romance I think what inspires me the most is the mundane intimate moments that everyone should enjoy. Like the safety of arms to hold you, the familiarity of knowing someone better than you know yourself, or lazy mornings spent cuddling because you can't drag yourself away. I like to show acts of love and devotion.

How did I discover my style?

I know I have a style, because people say I do, but I don't really see it myself. I think my 'style' is the part of my art that holds the 'me' in it. It would have never existed if I didn't make it and would never exist again after I'm gone.

No matter what it is, the 'you' in what you create is beautiful.

How did I start making art?

I was young when I started making art and it was always my favourite subject in school. I wanted to tell stories and words were always hard for me because I'm dyslexic and I struggle to explain things. So, I found that drawing was easier to express myself. I think I wanted to be understood and share how I saw the world, so I practise until what I create can match what I see in my head.

Describe my creative process,

How do I handle constructive criticism?

I personally love constructive criticism and I love feedback of any kind really. I don't enjoy non-constructive feedback, but I do believe that it can still be used for growth. I enjoy knowing how what I make has affected people and I especially want to know if that effect is negative. I am always willing to listen, and to learn so that I can be better.

How do I handle creative blocks?

When I get a creative block I find that it usually means that one of my pools is low. The way I see it, I have three pools, 'creativity', 'mind' and 'body'. When my creativity is low, I can still do logical things using the 'mind' pool. I can do anatomy, poses, etc. If both of those pools are low I can move onto something physical until the other pools replenish. To me, the creative block is like attempting to use an empty pool, you can try, but you won't get anywhere until it's given a chance to replenish. Give it time and the block will right itself.

Why art?

Most of my life I was discouraged from pursuing art. I wanted to do it from a young age, but I was told "it isn't a good living", "you'll never make any money doing that" or "focus on a real job and do art as a hobby" that kind of thing.

So, I did. I went to University and studied a Bachelors of Science to try to get a 'real' job. I was unhappy and my heart was never in it, but I still kept trying. After a horrible year and a huge breakdown I decided I needed to change things.

I started small, doing commissions and growing my skills after work. I worked a lot of different jobs while I learnt like barista, call centre and retail work.

One year turned into seven and I had a job from hell that I hated. At the start of 2022 I quit and I didn't have anything lined up to move on to. So, with the support of my partner, I was able to start my own business.

It has been so rewarding, and very stressful, but I have never wanted to work more at anything in my life. Why art? Because it's the only thing I've ever really wanted.

If you would like to support me

Commissions are a great way to support my work and get a nice treat for yourself. I love working with a variety of characters and ideas. If you have an idea, feel free to message me on Discord @rinnii or email me at rinniiart@gmail.com. I love to talk about ideas. I accept payment for commissions through Ko-fi but I prefer Paypal invoices.

Patreon has been a huge support for me to be able to continue to make art on a consistent basis. If you are able to support me, know that I appreciate you so much for funding my work and reducing money stress.

I now have a new Redbubble shop where you can get prints and stickers.
