While his fear of losing Padme, which tragically became a self-fulfilling prophecy in a strange way, was the main incident that pushed him over the edge, there was also his mother's enslavement and death that also drew him closer to the dark side. Which again shows why one of the other main tenets of the Jedi Order exists, that after a certain age children are not suitable to be trained due to too much attachment. I don't necessarily agree with these things and I think the Jedi Order is inherently flawed in many ways, I do see the logic that led many to these conclusions.

2023-07-27 01:03:23 +0000 UTCHands down my favorite episode. And now that they finally watched it I can talk about that particular scene. So much is revealed about Obi-wan AND Anakin there and it was so well-written. The villain had his moment to reveal the dilemma both Obi-wan and Satine faced... Betray your ideals as a pacifist and Obi-wan can be a hero to ALMOST everyone on the ship. Such good writing here in this scene. Then of course the climax which is chilling if you re-watch and notice after Anakin kills the traitor there's a very very subtle musical theme played that is reminiscent of Vader's theme. Showing us the audience the impact and evolution of Anakin's brutally efficient "by any means necessary" personal Jedi philosophy. And on top of that I think the most revealing thing was Obi-wan's admission that he would've left the Jedi Order to be with Satine. As a fan of Star Wars since I was a little kid I never even considered Obi-wan may have had second thoughts about his choice to devote himself to the Order but in this scene it only seemed logical that a man like him would OF COURSE have doubts yet still sacrifice his personal happiness for the greater good. Finally I think it's clever how they showed very subtly how interested Anakin was in this potential relationship Obi-wan and Satine shared. It wasn't just curiosity. It was more about his own secret marriage to Padme and how he thought perhaps he could confide and maybe even SHARE the same secretive relationship with his best friend and mentor.

2023-07-26 05:30:23 +0000 UTCAnakin was right though, dude was going to blow up the ship. Also the reason why he said that was, I believe, part of their code is that they can’t kill unarmed people (someone correct me if I’m wrong about this), so that detonator did count as a weapon. Also, Obi-Wan was about to do something but then the Senator pointed out how Satine‘s view of him will change if he did kill him and that’s why he hesitated.

2023-07-26 01:27:59 +0000 UTCThey know that. That’s why they are saying that they couldn’t be Jedi’s. Anakin’s issue was a lot bigger than just an attachment to Padme.

2023-07-26 01:20:48 +0000 UTCthe reason why jedi are allowed attachments is because it’s an easy way to the dark side. Just as anakin turned because of padme in ep 3
