Such a beautiful, masterfully crafted episode. The last of us and the boys are rare examples of shows deviating from the source material to actually make it better.

You know…I have loved ALL the reactions I’ve watched of yours; They always make me laugh. And you definitely had me laughing along with parts of this episode…
But when it eventually got down to the nitty-gritty, and the dramatic parts of this episode, and seeing you both not afraid to have a genuine reaction, regardless of the content, and knowing you were filming as it happened…That right there, was a lesson in real manhood; You didn’t start doing pull-ups or chest-thumping once the dust finally settled…You just recognized it for what it was, and never hesitated to *not* acknowledge all the BS that a large portion of insecure people are still out there complaining about even as I type this…I hope other dudes watching along as well were taking notes, because THIS is how it’s done, guys 😌.
Thanks for this reaction guys and the discussion afterwards. Nailed it. ❤️

From an article I read earlier 👍
After all that speculation, The Last Of Us co-creator Craig Mazin cleared things up on the official podcast for the show.
"We didn’t necessarily want to specify [the illness] for the audience, it was either MS or early ALS but it was a degenerative neuromuscular disorder," said Mazin.
