I know it wasn't on the poll, but I'd suggest you read Fujimotos one shot "Look Back" that came out right before Sayonara Eri. It is a good amount shorter, so it shouldn't take that long to get through and you could read it after Fire Punch to get the full Fujimoto experience. Thematically it also is a story that I think would really resonate with you, so you should definitely read it at some point.

Just wanted to comment on you nailing what got me to fall in love with his work right on the head and what I personally believe to be his writing's biggest charm - imperfect, messed up, very real characters. Like you said in the beginning of the video "people do shit that's super weird" and "it's amazingly accurate to human reality" explains it perfectly... without spoiling anything for you I'd like to let you know that throughout his other stuff you can see a lot more of that: kids being dumb and immature, messed up adults with their messed up experiences and views on life giving advice with complete confidence... To quote one of my favorite characters that you'll get to meet in Fire Punch: "In movies anything goes as long as it's interesting". (seems to be his mantra for writing in general :D) Don't wanna drag this out to be an essay any longer so I just want to say thanks for helping me understand stuff that I like better!
