He also believed in fighting with one Saber when dueling, he had no respect for anyone who fought with two or more sabers believing them to be cowards.

The explanation of it being caused by a virus was a cover up created by the Kaminoans and Palpatine to explain why Tup and Fives seamed to go crazy. Tup - due to his inhibitor chip malfunctioning which made the Order 66 command trigger early and ended up killinghim, and Fives due to him being drugged then told the truth about Order 66 from Palpatine himself.
