Anime FAIR USE Video advice

Hi everyone! I have been wanting to introduce Anime for a while on our channel... I've been warned that many YouTubers have been striked for using Anime content, even though it's under 10 minutes. Any advice how we can share our FAIR USE versions on YouTube? Our only anime- Princess Mononoke was immediately striked and Studio Ghibli refused to talk with us.. YouTube told me I could take it to court and most likely win, but I didn't want to go that far..

I think BlindWave only includes their reviews and have LINKS to go to their website to watch the 10 minute version... I hope to have a webpage down the road.. but I don't even know how to look into streaming my own videos that way...

The Normies, I believe, dispute their strikes/claims a lot.. but I don't want to risk our channel with strikes while hoping we'll win the copyright disputes. Seems like a lot of stress and just risky.

Anywho, so if we watch Anime, it will be a Patreon exclusive until we can figure it out, LOL. Also, I don't want to use the Google Drive for FAIR USE Videos since those files are huge HD files that take up a lot of space and should be streamed instead of shared.

Also, our first Anime probably will be Attack on Titan since that has been our biggest request for a long time. Most likely that will include Tom, Kim and I since Mom is maxed out with our current reactions.

Thanks for the tips and support! xoxo

Please react to Cowboy Bebop. It is honestly amazing.

attack on titan is one of my favorite animes and I'm so excited to know y'all are planning to watch!! I think you guys would enjoy the wild adventure <3

Since we’re on thus topic, how come Naruto hasn’t been suggested as of yet?

Death Note was interesting. But the more I watched it, it felt more and more convoluted with each passing episode. Perhaps it just wasn't the right anime for me.

By the way. If you're going for Attack on Titan, it might be better to warn Kim and Mom in advance that it's a VERY violent anime, like Game of Thrones level violence, more violent than anything they've seen so far in an animated show. If you feel like it might not be to their taste, there's always Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. In my opinion it's a more balanced anime overall.

Rafael Benedicto

I agree with you. Subbed versions are highly overrated anyway, IMO. Not to mention it's even harder to follow all the action while reading subtitles the entire time.

Rafael Benedicto

I have to politely disagree with people saying you should watch anime series in subtitled. It does not work with reaction videos. You have to watch in the dubbed, English spoken version. It's far to hard for a group to read what's being said, while trying to react and talk with eachother. It makes for a horrible reaction experience. Not to mention how hard it would be ok Storm's Mom. Sure theyve seen shows that had subtitled scenes, but thats easier than trying to watch a show thats fully subtitled. But hey, that's just my opinion. ✌😎

I hope you are watching the subtitled version of Attack on Titan! Also, I like the exclusivity, it’s understandable.

Daryl

Attack on titan should be watched in no dubbed version i guess

I really don't mind Patreon exclusives. Especially since I don't mind donating. And especially if you're gonna do Attack on Titan! Yes please.

Clannad and Sequel Clannad After Story is the best Anime for me. It about love and family. I cried a lot. I recommend this very much. Sorry for my english because I'm Thai.

I agree with others - discussion on youtube and a link elsewhere like vimeo is good - but I'm good with patreon exclusive too. Also yay Attack on Titan. I worry Kim will be put off by the first few episodes (a lot of the show is depressing/brutal) HOWEVER the characters and visuals are amazing and the story is mindblowing. Similar to LOST where more questions occur than answers a lot - amazing world! I also recommend Death Note for interesting discussions. I can recommend more fun/light-hearted anime in the future, aha. Like a lot of the Ghibli movies!

Also, I just saw that you are going to start with Attack on Titan. Best of luck with that. Even though it’s not one that interests me.

Matthew Richson

Exactly why I recommended all the ones I did. They’re relatively short/standard in comparison to the more popular anime’s.

Matthew Richson

Attack on Titan and My hero Academia are good animes for you guys to start with. Please don't do any animes with more or close to 1000 episodes lol.

You can try One Piece, but....considering they just hit their 1000th episode, you’re gonna be watching for a while. But in terms of storytelling and world building, it’s one of the best projects you can take

Please watch Silver fang(Ginga Nagareboshi gin) :)

Simon Andersson

I think Vimeo would work for that hopefully

Actually scratch that, regarding your mom since you said that Tom will likely be watching instead. But my point still stands, dubs for these are all good.

Matthew Richson

If anime is being considered, I’m fine with it being Patreon exclusive, if only to save you the headache. Now if had to recommend a few ones. Cowboy Bebop, considered to be one of the best of all time. Truly a work of art this one. And it’s considered to be a perfect introduction into the genre. Code Geass, another fantastic classic. Almost like Game of Thrones, but with Mech fights. Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood, haven’t watched this one is full yet, but I’ve heard great things about it. And lastly, my personal favorite, My Hero Academia. If you like superhero’s, this anime is for you. This one is ongoing too, all the other ones I listed above are complete. Best part of all? These all have good English dubs. Since I do believe you said that your mom doesn’t do good with subtitles yes? Having a good dub can really make or break an anime, and fortunately these all stick the landing in that regard.

Matthew Richson

Thanks and yes! It is a bummer! We still look forward to watching Studio Ghibli here as FULL Reactions! I have been considering testing out Vimeo for that as well. May be worth it!

Storm Akima

If you still get copyright strikes using Vimeo, I wouldn't mind it being a patreon exclusive.

Trevor Darnell

Yeah, it's unfortunate about Studio Ghibli, because I know you'd love their content, but they are very strict. A YouTuber recently had her channel taken down because Studio Ghibli hit her with three simultaneous strikes. They're very unreasonable and it's not worth taking chances with them.

Any anime polls coming up? I would like to see hunter x hunter in one of the polls.

cori washington

Sharing the reaction via vimeo and keeping the discussion on youtube is an idea! I also started using opendrive to share anime related and other copyrighted reactions (it's cheaper than google drive, but it offers unlimited online storage)

Chriskaileur

Patreon exclusives is a good idea, could bring in a few more fans to the channel
