Forrest Gump is one of those films that is always good to watch once a year or so, especially with someone who has never seen it! Also, if you guys really want to see young Tom Hanks, I recommend Splash (1984). That's the film that really launched his movie career.

No one has won back to back Oscars since, although Russell Crowe came close in the early 2000s. Philadelphia would be another good reaction.

Fun fact! Tom Hanks won his second consecutive oscar for his performance! That's only been done twice in the history of the academy. He won the previous year for his role in Philadelphia!

WOW! First time watching this movie and I gotta say it might just be as good as people have been saying all these years xD. Dont know why but it made me think of The Great Gatsby which tells a great story about love and the loneliness of a wealthy life, that I think you guys should see if you haven't already.

This is such a good movie! Fun fact: Forrest Jr. is played by Haley Joel Osment who is best known for his role in The Sixth Sense, but you've more recently seen him playing Mesmer in The Boys!

This movie is great. A few thoughts: Jenny was played by Robin Wright, who was also "The Princess Bride," and more recently Antiope, the fiercest Amazon warrior of Themyscira, a.k.a. Wonder Woman’s aunt. With Gump’s mainstream success, it’s easy to forget just how unconventional it is. For one, Forrest’s handicap is played for comedy, rather than tragedy, which is how most movies would approach his condition. That this approach never seems crass or cruel required a deft balancing act. There is constant humor, but it’s feather-light and often dependent on implication – how Forrest’s interpretation of events is constantly off from ours. There's also no conventional three-act structure. Forrest himself doesn't have a big character arc. But that's okay, because the movie is really about modern American history, so he’s more of a proxy/surrogate for the audience. With Forrest as a tour guide, it’s like we’re seeing all these tragic or galvanizing events through different eyes.

Accord to Tom Hanks, the DC speech was: “Sometimes when people go to Vietnam, they go home to their mommas without any legs. Sometimes they don’t go home at all. That’s a bad thing. That’s all I have to say about that.”

I love Forrest Gump. It's such a clever idea for a movie. And Forrest is my favorite movie character of all time.
