Top Gun | FULL AKIMA Reactions

Hope you all had a great weekend! Happy belated July 4th to those who celebrate! We really enjoyed this movie! For some reason, I thought this was going to be a comedy! I found out my oldest brother LOVED this movie growing up too! (He's 20 years older than me).

You can find this video in our Google Drive. Our LINKS are located right on this same page. Look for "LINK- MOVIE Reactions" or "LINK- ALL FULL Reactions" (depending on what tier you donated too). These LINKS can appear sometimes at the top of our POSTS page or the bottom, depending on when they were updated. Please feel free to message me directly if you have any issues :)

Top Gun | FULL AKIMA Reactions

Comments

Top Gun, Shawshank Redemption, Bumblebee, Armageddon, Bad Boys, The Patriot.. you gals have watched some fantastic movies lately!

And as for other films from Tony S., there are also three other films he made with Denzel W.: one was the revenge thriller MAN on FIRE from 2004 (where I believe Denzel gave his strongest performance), the hostage thriller THE TAKING of PELHAM 123 from 2009, which co-starred John Travolta, and the sci-fi action film DEJA VU from 2006. Among other films he also made were BEVERLY HILLS COP II starring Eddie Murphy, ENEMY of the STATE from 1998 starring Will Smith and Gene Hackman, and also even the thriller TRUE ROMANCE from 1993. ;)

To Note: This film was directed by TONY SCOTT - brother of Ridley Scott (of Alien and Gladiator fame). Tony sadly passed away from suicide in 2012 after battling cancer. I still miss Tony, at least he didn't try to shove philosophical themes into his films, and he was more of a "rock-n-roll-style action director" compared to his more "calmly operatic drama" brother. If y'all are interested in watching more Tony Scott films, then I'd definitely recommend two from him: one being the 1995 submarine thriller CRIMSON TIDE which is my #1 fav. from him. The other is the 2010 runaway train film UNSTOPPABLE both of which starred Denzel Washington. Unstoppable turned out to become Tony's final film before his suicide.

this is getting me through lockdown πŸ˜€

Haha, in Storm Akima land, none of that matters. It's just about a good fun movie and us all joining together. This channel has always been a respite from the political. And that is one of the best things Dawn has managed to do. Fantastic!

Lee Salvemini

Wow, a fantastic list! I've seen and really enjoyed: Mrs doubtfire Sound of music Prince of Persia Holes Ice age Ratatouille World's fastest Indian Gran Torino (Clint!!!) Hook The last samurai Want to see: Hacksaw ridge

Lee Salvemini

I was going to mention this one! It is a fantastic 'crowd pleaser' movie. I'm absolutely ready for a Last Action Hero reaction. Great pick George!

Lee Salvemini

They are doing so well. No problem, the upside is imagine that one day we'll run out of things to watch (figuratively maybe haha). So the list will be reached :D

Lee Salvemini

I second this!

Rafael Benedicto

I don't get that as much as I used to, so when I do it's fantastic for a movie experience. Kim actually helps us via the reacting to also suspend our belief. Maybe it's out of Psychological rapport? Humans are awesome :D

Lee Salvemini

I'd love to see you guys do The Thing 🀩

Anakin Starkiller

One day they’ll react to a movie of my recommendation...one day :)

Sohail Jafar

"Is that clear?" "Crystal." Now i want them to react to A Few Good Men. "This is gonna get harder and harder" Omg, too funny XD

Opti_Frog

And another interesting fact: Tony Scott was originally going to return to direct the sequel, and was even spotted alongside Cruise scouting locations just a couple days before Scott's suicide. But then, Scott's suicide had effectively delayed the sequel's development for some time, along with other projects Scott had in mind (such as Narco Sub and a The Warriors remake). I had read at one point (back on 2012) that the sequel might possibly center on how UAV drones have somewhat replaced human jet pilots.

George Bean

Please please consider The Green Mile, it's such a great movie!! It's based off a book written by Stephen King, who also wrote the Shawshank Redemption!! I've seen it on your polls a few times. It's always been high but never wins

Anne

That's probably how this whole Chinese virus got started in the first place! A whole contaminated shipment of rubber dog shit from Hong Kong!

And if you screw up just this much, you'll be flying a cargo plane full of rubber dog shit out of Hong Kong!

The Top Gun sequel was supposed to come out on June 24th (34 years after the original) but the COVID-19 pandemic delayed the film until next Christmas. There is a pseudo-sequel to Top Gun made in 1990 called Days of Thunder. Like Top Gun, it is directed by Tony Scott, produced by Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer and stars Tom Cruise. The film follows the same kind of story but is about NASCAR instead of aerial warfare.

HAHAHAHAHA!!! "This is going to get harder and harder.." Aside from laughing my butt off, I was screaming at my computer screen, "That's what she said! That's what she said!" Oh man, Michael Scott would be so proud! Oh Dawn, that was so perfectly timed! One of my all time favorite Storm Akima reaction moments!

I believe there is one movie that I would now love to see the Akima Ladies react to, and that is the 1993 Arnold Schwarzenegger movie LAST ACTION HERO. I could see them (esp. Kim) having a ball with that film. Who else agrees with that? ;D

"Stormies." I like it. On Youtube, channels are constantly asking in their community tabs what their fans should be called. If Storm Akima were to ever have an official name for their patrons, I think "Stormies" should be it.

WastedPo

So excited about this. Also seeing all my fellow "Stormies" requesting the MI series is awesome.

Thomas Massie

I think I know what you're referring to. Biting my tongue as I type this. Deep, calming breaths...

WastedPo

lol when i see some peoples comments i just tell myself, ignore the idiots, ignore the idiots, dont engage

CiviliNation

May i tell you what makes Kim maybe the best reactor i have ever seen? It is simply the fact that she is not actually reacting, she is just watching the movie, she truly suspends her belief and lets herself be carried by the story. In the end, thats all we ask for.

CiviliNation

Wait just a darn minute!, Now that I think of it, Top Gun isn't historically accurate, and doesn't properly address slavery! And it stars white people! I think watching it would be "problematic."

Will you post the TV show poll this week? :D

Nemo

The M.I. films are legit great (except the second one, let's be honest). They would almost definitely enjoy them.

WastedPo

Now that you three have watched one of Tom Cruise’s greatest hits, you HAVE to watch the Mission Impossible movies. It’s honestly surprising you haven’t yet. Seriously, you’ll love this series.

Matthew Richson

That's it, we gotta get them to watch Hot Shots now!

One of the all time greatest movie scores and soundtracks!

I've Been Through the DANGER ZONE! Fly Into the DANGER ZONE!

George Bean

Hey Dawn, when you said you thought this was a comedy, I bet you were probably thinking of Hot Shots!, which was a spoof of Top Gun that came out in 1991, starring Charlie Sheen. And it's hilarious! Anyhow, very excited for this reaction! A great bookend to the 4th of July holiday that you began with The Patriot!
