Sneak Peek C1 [ New era]
Added 2025-10-27 01:40:25 +0000 UTCNote/Just a sneak peek. But remember, your choices will have a big impact right from the start. I'll post the link to the private demo soon, and you can read and see for yourselves whether it's better or not.
Currently, the rewrite demo is around 12,000 words long, but it will be a little longer when I make it available to play/read.
Ps: I answered the September questions briefly in another post.
____
You don't waste time and move, fast. Leaves rise with a startle and drift slowly down through the air as you pass. You run to a tree at a good distance from the carnage, to get a good look and stay safe before acting.
You jump, dig your fingers into the bark of a tree, and climb as if it were nothing. One or two leaps later, you are already at the top of a branch, hidden among the leaves, looking in the direction of the bodies and blood.
You hear them before you even see them.
Hunters.
Five of them. Lanterns and swords in hand, and runic necklaces and bracelets on their wrists and necks, giving them some necessary advantages to hunt supernaturals.
You recognize one as Mike, a 17-year-old hunter, recently recruited. His dark hair was pulled back in a ponytail, and his blue eyes scan the surroundings with the quickness of a novice, while the other four observe the bodies and tracks with attention and calm. One of them had a necklace with a tracking symbol. It shouldn't be possible for anyone to see it from the distance you were at, but you are no longer human, so it doesn't matter.
"Shit, I swear I heard screams," Mike said, looking around. "Seriously, I heard them."
"We don't doubt you." You recognize the voice. A warmth spreads through your chest, you remember when this same voice was directed at you with concern and longing. It still is.
"We noticed. It's not like you're the only one with better vision and hearing in the dark, Meyer," another responds, looking at Mike. "Don't try to cheer up the rookie, Roberts. There are only corpses here."
You hear Taylor's deep breath, Taylor Roberts...
