Draft for New era [Chapter 1]
Added 2025-09-28 03:00:05 +0000 UTCThis is an initial draft of Chapter 1 of New Era. And for some questions >
> Can Riley live and become a vampire/RO? > It might be possible.
> Will the scenes with Taylor and the Hunters still happen later? > Yes, but with a better translation and introduction. I can bring a more complete version and you all can see what you prefer.
> I already plan to better translate Chapter 1 of New Era, but I can also bring new updates and more refinement.
> What do you all think of this beginning? Would you like to see more? Or should I drop it? And no, this won't interfere with Blood Legacies and the other things. Don't worry.
________
You smelled the blood even before you stepped in it.
Fresh, strong. A scent of iron that, if you were human, you might not be able to stand, but you are not human, and no human would smell it as strongly as you are now. And certainly not the brief, terrible desire to taste it.
The blood brings this desire now, but you suppress it.
There were five bodies, scattered among the foliage, some with torn limbs and so covered in blood and dirt that one might think something had dragged them, and you had no doubt that's what had been done.
A large rock stood to the side, and a hill next to it. A heart was still beating, and someone was still breathing, but so weakly that you could already tell the person was slowly dying.
They weren't killed just now, nor all together, at least not all of them. One or two seemed to have been there longer, decomposing. The thing that hunted them probably made one victim and then another, and dragged them to this place. Where perhaps it could devour them in its own hidden spot, without interference.
"Should we take her?" The fragile voice came from your left. Diego, with a shaved head and light brown skin, with his eyes glowing red, and you highly doubted he was letting them glow like that by choice. The thirst is still a recent concept, even after a year as vampires.
Diego grimaces as he looks toward the young woman who was still breathing, and her heart briefly accelerates as she looks at Diego, who seems to have realized his eyes were glowing deep red, and swallows hard, forcing his eyes back to normal.
Either that or maybe she was just scared to see you and him walking so calmly among the bodies, as if it were nothing. While other people would already be running to see if someone was alive, or screaming, or even calling for help.
You look in the girl's direction. She must have been between 17 and 18 years old, her skin was dirty with earth and blood, but you could tell it was an olive tone, with dark green eyes and dark hair matted with dried blood. Full lips but with blood trickling down the sides, and a deep bite on her neck.
From the knee down there was nothing but blood, and the other leg was so scratched and had such deep marks that it looked like large claws had dug into it. Her right arm was at a strange angle, and her left was intact, but with cuts and wounds. She wore a black jacket that shone red in the moonlight from the blood soaking it. The white blouse underneath was also dirty, though less so than the jacket and jeans.
You recognize her from school.
Riley.
You weren't friends. You just saw her in the hallways and in classrooms. She is very intelligent, and she quite liked to make that clear; she would speak up at half the opportunities to answer questions in class. But you didn't even know her age for sure, only that she was in the same grade as you.
She opens her mouth, more blood trickles out. But she can't form words, only gags, coughing weakly.
She shouldn't be alive, not even breathing. How did she endure such blood loss? And injuries? Or even speak?
The attack must have been recent; that's the only explanation. But why didn't the attacker finish the job? It must have been busy, or... something caught its attention before it finished.
You look her up and down. She's a survivor. The only one you've found alive so far, if you can even call her current state 'living'. She already looked almost dead. Almost.
She wouldn't last much longer. That is certain.
"We can help." Diego moves toward her, after a moment of internal debate.
You raise an arm to stop him, in front of his stomach. Diego stops, but looks at you with apprehension.

#"She won't make it." You state, looking at her. "Leave her."
"But..."
" Leave her." You repeat, looking at Riley.
Diego looks at you, his eyebrows furrowed and his lips slightly parted with clenched teeth. He seemed to be in agony, just standing still. And who could blame him? The girl was dying slowly, and he wanted to help, even if it was most likely that something would go terribly wrong.
*set riley_death true
#"Let's... try. If she can take it." You said, and kneel. Ready to offer your blood, and bite her. It might be the only chance she has to survive. If your venom works properly, at least.
N/Choose there.

Or like True Blood. And how your progeny are forced to follow orders and can always be found or called to you.

2025-09-29 04:12:26 +0000 UTCYes, it's at the beginning. And yes, it's a very difficult choice, but it's intentional. And the MC (player) will basically have the same knowledge, but as you pointed out, it might be good to get a glimpse of what she's like before that. I'll bring in a brief flashback before the choice. Or not, I'll see what looks best. Thank you ❤️😁

2025-09-28 15:42:25 +0000 UTCI am glad to hear from you,! 🙌 Sorry for a stupid question. But is this scene the beginning of chapter 1 or is it in the middle of chapter 1? Deciding what to do with Riley might be a very hard choice in the beginning, when the readers have not spent a lot of time getting to know their player’s character. But that's just my unprofessional feelings! 🙇♂️
