There were soldiers too, but not as many as before. Where once there had been rows in almost every corridor, now there were at most four or eight in each long hallway. Doors were open, windows too, and people were chatting, and yet it was so quiet, polite and low-key that the contrast with what it was like in the city gave you a slight feeling of dizziness, but it disappeared as quickly as it arrived.
Needless to say, you were an eye-catcher.
