They all are some pretty damned badass ladies, yes, and each of them shine in their own way, which is nice. Jody has the strong mom vibes. Again, makes me miss my aunt who was my godmother. I swear that Jody is the boys’ godmother. She has very strong and similar energy as my aunt had. Love all your words on the motherly bonds that Jody forms with the girls. One jarring thing is I can tell this is around the same time that Kim played a VERY hateful character in another show around the same time as this aired. Makes for strong dissonance compared to my image of her before Supernatural, and just how great she is as Jody. And yes, Donna has her own terrific aunt energy. I was aware that this was a backdoor pilot for a planned spinoff. Alas, the CW hates us, meaning we don’t have that spinoff. If we did get that spinoff, I’d want Charlie and Eileen to be part of it too, were they still alive. This one was a good one.

OMG I adore this episode so, so much. First of all, the Wayward Sister's are all just complete badasses. Every single one of them, completely unique, complex, and helpful in their own ways, plus ranging the entire spectrum of femineity, from tough, closed off, to soft and gentle, to bubbly bright and positive. Hunters, to a nurse, to a psychic. It isn't often that we get to see this many well-written women band together, especially in this show, which, at the end of the day, does very much focus on two brothers. But, given this, it is such a breath of fresh air to see all these ladies team up and work together. I love that we get to see the mother/daughters/lovable aunt vibes that everyone gives off. Jody being the mother these girls either lost, or never had. Her three different kinds of adopted daughters- the new, shy, wary but very welcomed Patience, the calm, settled in, familiar Alex, and the independent, isolated but comfortable enough to always come back Claire. Jody loves each girl, and shows it in the way each girl needs. There is easy acceptance with Patience, and trust in her. A steadfast presence with Alex. And, admittedly, the tough love that Claire might not want, but needs. And it all works, they all fit together so well. And even though the story is primarily driven by Claire, with her and Jody bristling a little bit, her fear with Patience's arrival, her connection to Kaia, and then that loss... each woman gets to shine this episode without any really overshadowing the others. And then Donna, who is that lovable aunt who radiates pure sunshine and makes sure each of her nieces is loved, while also able to absolutely demolish anything that comes after them. Little fun fact: this was actually supposed to be a back door pilot to a spin off called Wayward Sisters, which would have delved into Jody and the girls, plus Donna's lives in Sioux Falls. Unfortunately, because the CW apparently hates us, the idea was never greenlit
