Again, the emotions are getting strong nearing the end. Love the praise you gave to Jean as Morgain. As mentioned, we lost her earlier this year. She was very formidable. She was very determined to get ahold of Excalibur. Everyone puts such stock in that sword with it granting power. Don’t think it works that way. I mean, if I went round saying I was an emperor, just because some moistened bint had lobbed a scimitar at me, they’d put me away. That shot of Ace lifting the sword out of the water was great. Given Seven’s reputation, honestly, fair that you say you didn’t know how it would go when he had Mordred at his mercy. You wouldn’t put it past him to lop Mordred’s head off clean as a dandelion head. Ace really does excellent work in this story. And more than fair that you say that Seven is rising the ranks of Doctors that you do not want to piss off.Bulk of this is focused on the Brig. Just how it hit you that this is the last story of the Classic Who era to feature the Brig, makes a man cry with you on that one. Especially when old Bessie stops by again. Adore your reaction to Bessie’s return. Ace yelling “Geronimo!!”, likewise yielded a strong reaction. Big moment was when the Brig made the big sacrifice. Jesus, I wasn’t ready for the reaction for that one. We know he lives past this point, illustrated by the Doctor foreshadowing that he’s supposed to die in bed. Even so, in that moment, you forget that. Your reaction to that moment, and the moment of the Doctor and the Brig in Bessie, they are about tied for the biggest highlight of the reaction to the concluding half of the story. I know it isn't the best story in some ways, but there's a lot in it I really like, both for nostalgic reasons and because it has lots of lovely moments in it. The script obviously isn't in the league of Aaronovitch's previous one, Remembrance, but he still brings a lot that I don't think Doctor Who had often done before.

Apparently, the actor ad-lib'd from the poem a lot - there was some in the previous parts and now here - to give his character something more to say. "What are you doing in the lake?", "Drowning. Here, you can be King of England.", Brigadier Bambera and Ace, "Battlefield" The water wasn't really deep enough here for the effect of the sword and Ace emerging out of the water. Several takes were required as the sword kept not coming out vertical. And afterwards, Sophie had to be given antibiotics because of the water quality in the reservoir. His first role was as Bret Vyon in "The Daleks' Master Plan" (with William Hartnell). In "The Web of Fear" he started his role as our Colonel Lethbridge-Stewart (with Patrick Troughton) and then had had a promotion in "The Invasion". Then his run playing the Brig from "Spearhead from Space" (Jon Pertwee) to "Terror of the Zygons" (Tom Baker). And later playing against Peter Davison in "Mawdryn Undead" and in "The Five Doctors" (mainly with Pat). And now he has a story with Sylvester McCoy. It's a shame he never had an on-screen story with Colin Baker - that would have completed a nice set. But he did do a Big Finish audio story with Colin - and another one with Paul McGann - so he did get a complete set in a way.
