There have been the past occasions with this franchise where your tears were stronger, and even with that in mind, you were getting me bad with this one. Became difficult to watch, and I just kept wanting to give you a hug, Jess. Start with the badass partnership between Daryl and Paz. I can see how the image of Daryl holding onto Justina’s hand would be seared into your brain. In Daryl’s place, when Paz asked if he had any ideas, I’d have answered, “Several, but I’m not sure how many of them are good ones.” For not having much time to prepare, they did the goddamn thing. I’m hesitant to use the word “enjoy”, though it was a standout part of the reaction how your hatred for Torres, and by extension, El Alcázar just kept growing. Given what you’ve spoken of in the past, I knew that you’d be continuously triggered throughout. Hell of a spectacle this El Alcázar festivity was. Leaning further into elements of The Exterminating Angel, with a few Kubrickian shades of Eyes Wide Shut. Hence, loathsome though the whole shebang is, respect for the cinematic homages is strong. You held the similar assessment as I did, vis-à-vis the Chekov’s marionette walkers. Your encouragement of it happening was far more delightful than my own. We both lived for them being cut loose. Like how you gave credit to the creativity, walker-wise. Brings new meaning to eat the rich, like you said. Buñuel would have approved. We both encouraged Justina for doing what she could, we certainly were favorable to Daryl slicing the one fuck’s throat. Emotional seeing Paz and Elena reunite again, and I adored how Elena introduced Paz as her dearest friend to her son. The scene also had the end of Torres. (Or is it Mister Fuckhead?) Always a pleasure to see you react to a hated character’s gruesome demise, here being especially wonderful. The two ladies were terrific in that scene. Alexandra sold well Paz’s relief in getting Elena, Justina, and the other girls free. And now she’s off to Barcelona with them, so she gets a good ending. Lovely if we see her again, if not, I love this exit for her. Great scene of her and Daryl bidding farewell to each other. Love seeing Valentina being a tough old bird. Taking us to Carol. Great were her words to Roberto about Antonio lying about his mom. Oh, yeah, we saw some red when poor Antonio was at Federico’s mercy, though the man gains further respect when he refuses to talk. Interesting to see that although your hatred for him does not match your hatred for Losang, Federico has ascended in the rankings of your shitlist. As previously mentioned, of the cast of the Spain arc, Óscar I have seen before. He did good villain work here. It rankles when he sets to torturing Antonio, and uses the dead soldiers to justify it. Particularly rich is that we already saw how Federico pieced the likely timeline of events and cirumstances with the dead soldiers, and now is using it for his own narrative to vilify Daryl and Carol, and to justify the torture of Antonio. Love that Carol does get him out. Yes, it was sweet how her first words are to assure that his son is safe. Eduardo sold far too relatable energy when he asked Carol why she would come back for him. He and Melissa are doing a number on my heart with the adorable chemistry. Shame they are betrayed. We had similar responses to seeing Roberto chained up, and thus, luring Carol and Antonio into Federico’s planned death for them. They were prepared to die braver than most what with wailing on the walkers with their fists; I cheered the bravery there. Daryl comes in with not giving a fuck with the head shots, as you observed. And Justina embraced the Harrison Ford in Witness of it all, and all your reactions to that were wonderful. Huge cheer when Federico’s mom slapped him. They were all set to go home. And the silent reconciliation between father and son got me good. Hoo that elicited a few strong tears. Daryl opening up to Carol about how he runs was striking. And it ties into his flashbacks, which this episode, it gets you hearing the audio of Michael as Merle. Oh, we both had the “MA!!” response to Federico being set loose at the end. Love Norman giving Daryl the expression that screams what I said when Federico rants, which was, “Oh, just shut the fuck up, and do it already!” Carol saves the day, but the boat is cooked. And Federico is still alive, far as I could tell. Share not being strictly speaking too shocked or saddened, much though the heart does go out to our heroes. I was wondering about two episodes ago if they were going to leave Spain or not. It also stood out that I hadn’t heard if there was a location change for the fourth season. I share the notes of this was less bitter in terms of character deaths, especially those we like. We had more wins on that front, so I share relatively, your feelings on this ending. All the same, it hurts seeing the look in Daryl’s eyes when the boat is in flames. And ending on Hurt, which cuts DEEP into the soul in any language. Recognition was instant from the opening notes alone, and the tears were instant. We agree on the love for the song, Jess, and lovely to see you dance to it. You expressed wanting to sing along, but you only knew the English lyrics. Didn’t stop me, as I just sung along in English, whilst heavily crying, as that happens when singing that song. One side effect of it all is that it attracts the attention of Codron. Which now takes us to the opening. Yeah, it was a little dramatic, your reaction to Codron popping by. Beats my surprised reaction of “Oh, shit!” in delight seeing old Stéphane. Gets me in the heart seeing how Codron’s surprise reappearance got you as emotional as it did. Looking forward to the energy he would bring to the fourth season. I hear ya on the loving the bringing over at least someone from the France arc. (And I KNEW you were going to say something about Fallou.) Hoping we see Laurent again. I’m fairly positive that we’ll see Isabelle one last time. When this ends, Daryl will have a sort of Endor moment with her is my prediction. And I don’t know, but I think we are building to Daryl reuniting with Rick and Michonne. Which needs to happen. Like a decade ago. Lovely reactions to this season. I continue to express my sympathies for the low numbers with the views. All the same, it does warm the heart to know that the support that I and others have offered does truly mean a lot to you. Thank you for the lovely reactions to season three of Daryl and Carol.
