Stress levels were running a mite high with this one, so you’re in good company, Jess. Yeah, they covered a lot in this one. Gets a chuckle when Paz comments on the cute little water bottle, lovely how you made a comment about it as well. Speaking of Paz, we both loved that she caught up with Daryl to help. We both said “Daryl.” in a slightly disapproving manner when Daryl initially was stubbornly rejecting Paz’s help. Major credit to Alexandra Masangkay for very excellently selling Paz’s scene where she tells Daryl her backstory. Gets me real good seeing how emotional you got at that part. Love how Paz recognizes the loss that Daryl is going through. Daryl mentions he’s lost a lot of people, he’s not the only one. Paz correctly senses that some of those that he’s lost are hurting more. Norman delivers with how Daryl, you can tell, acknowledges this, even if he’s not in the talkative mood about it. They were ready to do the damn thing with the group. Was waiting for your reaction to Daryl’s moment on the other end of a crossbow. A valiant effort, albeit one that failed, sadly. Quick sidenote with that: you yelled the question of how many damn keys were on the ring. It did look like an extraneous amount, but I’m not exactly one to talk. I’ll endorse your stance that the real villain of the season is the lock. Sad to see Paz’s friend die. Hurt seeing you root for the success knowing that it wouldn’t happen. Keeps being interesting the flashbacks of Daryl when he was a boy. Love your reaction to Merle. Excellent assessments you had with that. Was Merle a man who wasn’t very Mary Poppins like? Yes. Like you said, this does not mean that he was devoid of care and protective nature for his little brother. Love how as of this episode, Daryl’s getting his wind back. As you said, he found a home away from home, and it ended in tragedy. He did not get to live happily with Isabelle. Now he has a chance to save others again, for he does not stand by and let injustice happen, like you said. This ofrenda is definitely an injustice. Already, it’s stirred up the emotions in you, and now you say how seeing the women in the cages just hits you even harder. Gets me to cry seeing how it gets you the way you say it does. And Daryl and Carol are going to fight. A young couple in love, needing saving, a worthy cause to fight for. We are very anxious as more of Federico’s sinister side becomes apparent. Like how you’re very done with him at this point. Great how you call out his hypocrisy in rationing. Love how when Federico asks Carol, “Did you just threaten me?”, you had a very you style response of “Is Bismarck a herring?” in the affirmative. Bringing us to the sweetness of the Carol/Antonio scenes. We had the similar reactions to Carol seeing Antonio taking a shower. You liken it to high school coy flirting, for both of them, that might be the sweetest thing, given their respective histories. Sweet of Valentina to lend Carol the book. Tension rises when Roberto’s health begins to fail. Carol was already on the mission to get him the medicine and becomes more determined when she saw the cat. Worst part of that was I called it before we saw it. They had the shots of the cat eating or drinking from leftover dishes, and later I noticed we didn’t see the cat, instant realization of what was coming. Lividity rose on my end, which became exceeded by you immediately crossing my mind over how that would strike the nerve. You handled it MUCH better than I was deathly afraid of, though your gasp still pierced the soul. You spoke well of this episode being a showcase of the best of Carol. Melissa brought it with the impassioned plea, language barrier be damned. Love how you weren’t sure how it would play out. Surprising development that mama is aghast Federico engaging in the poisoning plot and is against this unlike Leopoldine Konstantin encouraging Claude Rains with poisoning which is where I thought it would head. And they get Roberto well again. This coincides with the reveal about the tension. We reveal that the tension between Antonio and Federico is indeed over a woman. It’s always over a woman. Rather enjoy how you largely deduced it yourself. Though this time it does have a bit of a new twist. First though we have the great family films where Antonio reveals his passion for film. Serious indeed if he spent his communion money on the super8. The revelation that he lost his wife because of the bombing was a striking thing. Which also explains his burns that I assumed were not going to be explained, though I like how it’s not spelled out. And now Roberto knows, which you note the lack of honesty was probably the part that hurts the most. Oh, fuckerdoodles indeed, as you say. And that last scene revealing that before Antonio can even begin to process his wife’s death, it begins. Oh, yeah, we had the reactions when learning that it was the historic day. LOVED the look on your face when it clicked. This whole season, Antonio’s actor, Eduardo Noriega, is emerging as the MVP of the new cast of this season, and the scene where he shows Carol the film, the flashbacks, and his breaking down from that is such astonishingly good work. He sets it up so Carol can get his son to safety, but first, they have the kiss. We about matched, reaction-wise, vis-à-vis the big damn kiss that Carol and Antonio had, Lord you warmed the heart now that I’ve seen your reaction to the moment. Small thing in the grand scheme, but it rankles when Federico acts such the petty dick when saying that Antonio’s personal solar panel was not his to give to Carol. We both greatly admired and appreciated Antonio’s bravery in calling out Federico in front of everyone. Carol was ready with the gun, and you know that she’s going back to get Antonio. You can tell that she’s going to make it clear to Daryl that they’re not leaving until Federico is dead. Carol’s going to kill him if she has to ride all the way to Hell to do it. Considering how so done you are with him, you’ll endorse that, I’m sure. Cannot wait for the season finale. For now, thank you for this most excellent reaction, Jess.
