Marvel Zombies 1x03/1x04 Full Reaction!

Marvel Zombies 1x03/1x04 Full Reaction!

Haven’t seen Eyes of Wakanda myself. Nobody’s really talked about it either, as a matter of fact. Shared assumption that the busy schedule had a hand in Jess not reacting to it, at least not at this time. Seeing the presumed schedule from the end of the year through the first third of next year, makes me worry about the relatively full plate that Jess will have. Yeah, five years after losing Chadwick, it does pack the emotional punch getting T’Challa going out in the blaze of glory, rather perfectly narrated by Peter. Valkyrie and Khonshu had the fun interaction. Fair on the behind the black thing. Easy to see where it’s headed, yet fun seeing it get there. Elizabeth surely had a day, even if she can’t remember recording the dialogue for this. Oh, Lord, Animporphs, that brings back memories. Good comparison. Good call with the mattresses. Straight to the point with the latter episode. The writers room would have been a hell of a time seeing all the ideas thrown about. Khonshu appearing over Blade’s face being particularly amazing. Ending felt rushed, though true about this feeling like something that Riri would do. (Oh, wait...) I assume about the same with the specific powers. It is effective how Riri is the small bit of hope among the win for the villains before they get dumped onto Infinity Ultron. (Assuming that wasn’t a variant of the variants; I could see Marvel getting ambitious with that, and they probably already are planning along those lines.) Sharing this fun time with Jess is terrific. Onboard with more, though this does have a good closing scene. Sort of like although we got the Godfather sequels and we love them, (...Or at least I love both sequels, anyway,) you really could have just had the first one and that’d be it, and just end on that perfect closing image of Diane Keaton’s heartbroken expression as Neri closes the door on her. Whilst this is not in the same league as The Godfather trilogy, there is the same basic principle of it would be great to have more. If not, then, this ending serves a worthy conclusion.

That was Cary Grant, asshole (McLane has his favorite role of hers, I have mine). I've never been able to take battle cries seriously ever since a certain scene with Lord Zedd. "Are all those hi-yahs really necessary? Here, let me do some." If the hex is based on our favorite show as a kid, then I'm stuck on the Satellite of Love mocking bad movies. Eh, kind of a lateral move for me at this point.

I imagine it was a packed schedule that kept you from reacting to Eyes of Wakanda, but I highly recommend you even just check it out on your own time, because it's awesome. Quite an emotional start to this one as they take the opportunity to let T'Challa go out in a blaze of glory, and make it fit perfectly that Peter narrates his final words now that Chadwick can't say them. A big part of the fun of something like this is seeing characters interact who'd never get the chance in the main setting, and Valkyrie and Khonshu are an especially fun case of it. A little awkward that it comes along with one of those "behind the black" cheats where we're supposed to believe no one noticed the giant fucking mural of Hitler just because it was off-camera, but I'm pretty much numb to that by now. It's pretty easy to see where everything in New Asgard is going, but it's pulled off so well that I don't mind at all going on the ride, aided by Elizabeth clearly having a ball getting to play this new side of Wanda even beyond what we saw in Multiverse of Madness. I've seen a lot of people surprised by the Nova Corps twist, but I pretty much expected it since I was a huge fan of Animorphs as a kid, and this very much brought up memories of one of the major twists toward the end of that series (which was a lot more painful after years of seeing this bunch of aliens as just the saviors the heroes had to hold out for). Hopefully Kamar-Taj had some mattresses set up on the other end of those portals. In layman's terms, speedy thing goes on, speedy thing comes out. And after all the buildup it's very nice that we get straight to the point here, and I can just imagine the show's crew bouncing all kinds of ideas off each other about different beats they could throw into the battle with all these characters at their disposal. Special mention to Khonshu appearing over Blade's face in its sword; whoever came up with that one deserves a raise. I had a bit of trouble buying the ending, which feels much more like something Riri would do (in fact, we basically just saw her do it). My best guess is Kamala's specific power set was so essential to letting the heroes survive until now that she just had to be the one to get all this way. I figured Riri would survive, because then what would the point be of showing her injecting the experimental cure, but it's nice that she just provides the barest glimmer of a chance and they otherwise let this just be a total win for the baddies (at least until all the zombies are dumped on Infinity Ultron). The crew have said they're hoping to get a second season, but there's no word on it yet. Either way, I'm totally satisfied with what we got. It's a story that knows what it's here for and just gives that to us, no fussing around with anything else. And as always you've been a great addition to it.

Rather tickled pink of how you describe the garden variety MCU plot of the glimmer of hope in most other projects, whereas here, yes, well, this time John Wayne does not walk off into the sunset with Grace Kelly. Solid second half to this show. Start out with the bang of Thanos, even in death, being one mighty impressive threat. Once again, Thor did not go for the head, (or the neck,) leading to the tragic consequences. See you said that “We did not need that!” with showing Rocket stripped to the bone. I found it hilarious, if I’m being honest. Yeah, the mention of T’Challa saying “Wakanda Forever!” one last time greatly stings a bit. Heart did go out to Alexei, and your reactions to that got me good, Jess. Nice of Khonshu to provide the assistance in getting our crew into New Asgard. I LOVE that we got Murray back for this. (Though Murray is oddly Darrined in the latter episode. Maybe there was a quick rewrite or something.) Khonshu is quite cheerful in this world. Makes sense as this is a favorable outcome for him: First the world achieves the death mass, and then... it achieves its death. Terrific it is how you, me, and Zemo all clock the danger when it is mentioned about the queen of Sokovia. By the way, her pulling this Titus Andronicus move is a sick thing to do. (Give her credit, though, there’s no dogs involved, far as I can tell.) Zemo’s death gets a good laugh with how he’s just so done with everything. By contrast, yeah, hurts to lose Alexei. We both had similar responses to the Nova Corp implementing the quarantine. We both had the shared response of asking which fucking buttons to press in the ship. Leading to the big final stand. WAY too much going on to talk about all of it. Your reactions say it all in some cases. You make the comment of you always fight better when you shout beforehand. True, but it’s not as grand as a good villain yell. The question of why is it always Thor and the Hulk: I don’t know, Marvel thinks we want that the most instead of, you know, some fucking quality deep dives into the goddamn villainy? It appears that Hope was not lost after all. Pity. Soon the hour grows too dark, leading Kamala to make the decision that, as you say, hard to fault her for it. And thus, with the help of Ms. Marvel’s power, the Scarlet Witch spreads a new hex to relieve everyone of the burden of their failed and useless lives. Tragic, I know. But, as my plastic surgeon always said: if you got to go, go with a smile! Just hopefully Kingpin and Vanessa are ok still living their best Long, Long Time life. Man did it hurt seeing your reaction to Kamala reunited with her friends sharing the Boba, except not. Sidenote: I’m of the mind that I hear Boba and I think Fett, so I’m out of it. Shame that this hex has no tvland/metv vibes. I’d be a wiseass saying to the Scarlet Witch about if she takes requests as I’d take M*A*S*H land as it’s preferable to the world of the zed words. There is still Riri trying to break through the fog yelling, “TURN IT OFF!!!” to Kamala. Riri lives it seems. Mephisto gave her an assist I take it? All leading to the presumed continuation. I think. I don’t know if there is one coming. Be nice if there was as this was very fun to share with you, Jess. You spoke of the edit. I checked the edit out. A great edit. Solid job. A little choppy at spots, but that’s no one’s fault as it’s just the nature of the beast with the chaos and carnage of the episodes. You speak of the recurring struggle of editing fight scenes, made worse with the MCU. Throw the chaos of the zed words on top of it, yeah, I can see how that’d be a problem. I do notice you tend to streamline with the pronounced reactions that you have to stuff. If this is all we get, this was fun, like I said. If we get more, look forward to sharing it with you. Thank you for the terrific reactions, Jess.
