Thank you for another great reaction! I'm totally with you on your analysis of this. I think the concept is very unique & pretty dark, but it's been done a little over camp. On the one hand you have this terrifying concept of a society where everyone is forced to appear happy while suppressing sadness. On the other I just found the production of it to be 'sickly sweet'. I guess in a way, that's kind of fitting for the theme! This is another story where I forgot there were only 3 parts, but I look forward to your analysis after the final part. See you next time!

2025-09-19 17:33:14 +0000 UTCA story where a world leader that fails to blend their pancake makeup, (and also has hair of questionable authenticity,) fuses with Joy in Inside Out and creates this hellscape that’s Willy Wonka, The Wicker Man, and the summer camp in Addams Family Values all wrapped up in one horrifyingly saccharine package. Not sure if that’s the most bizarre description of a Doctor Who story, though I would imagine that it’s definitely in the running.
