Not recalling any specific three-parters prior to this one, Two Doctors aside, and like you said, each part of that one was long enough to have its own reaction. Needing copious amounts of time to process this one sounds a fair response. Good point on the madness of the last story prepping you for this one. Campiness abounds in this season, yes. The pace is brisque. Shame we didn’t get to go to Disneyland as you looked quite excited at that one. Great to see you vibing with the music. Vibing with the music, it often happens whether you want to or not. So, I can’t fault you doing so when the bad guys are trying to hunt down the lady. They moved real fast with the one guy falling hard. You had most memorable reactions to the baby. We concur that the CIA plotline is a choice. Don’t remember reading about Eisenhower having kept tabs on sci-fi business, but all right. I am likewise puzzled: When did Marvin Acme work for the CIA? Then again, come to think of it, the disappearing reappearing ink would be very helpful to have in that profession. Upon reflection, yeah, the guy at the hotel probably does think that everyone is part of some group that booked in advance. Still think you’d give the paperwork a once over just to verify that. Because it does come across as just giving the rooms away on the hotel’s dime, as you observed. The poor man in the sparkly attire getting shot in the back, you hate to see it. Could see how that one got you. And it was a very striking moment when you jinxed it about the bus. Lord, you had quite a look at that part. The Doctor and Mel have spent some stories apart yeah. Love how you stick up for Mel as she gets shit done. She may be screaming all the while doing it, but she gets shit done. Like how you enjoy the story well enough. Here’s looking forward to a good time with the finale. Until then, thanks for the fun reaction, Jess.

"Nostalgia Trips, the most notorious travel firm in the five galaxies.", The Doctor, "Delta and the Bannermen"
A three-parter. You're right - we haven't had one since "Planet of Giants" and that was, as you might recall, written and actually filmed as a four-parter before being edited down to three parts for broadcast. And even this slot was orginally planned for a single six-part story - but was then split into two three-part stories.
"Mel, I don't like the look of this one little bit.", The Doctor, "Delta and the Bannermen"
Notice the new "question mark" umbrella - it has changed from the one he had in "Paradise Towers". Fortunately, the Big Finish people provided a explanation for this - the previous one was damaged during one of their audio adventure stories.
"Get ready to run back into the TARDIS at the first sign of trouble.", The Doctor, "Delta and the Bannermen"
Interestingly for us Who nerds, for the first episode we even have the original edit - no music or sound effects, but 6 minutes of additional material. Like a TARDIS scene where the Doctor and Mel wonder why there is nothing in the petty-cash jar for the toll they need to pay.
"Tonight is your lucky night. Because you are our ten billionth customer.", The Tollmaster, "Delta and the Bannermen"
The Tollmaster, the poor man in the sparkly outfit, is played by Ken Dodd - a celebrity casting. I haven't seen any of his comedy content - only a few cameo performances like his Yorick in Branagh's Hamlet (a silent flashback with the famous skull mirroring his distinctive front teeth).
"Well, according to my reckoning, it seems to be somewhere in, er, Wales.", The Doctor, "Delta and the Bannermen"
A Who story set in Wales - quite a rarity for Classic Who. "The Green Death" was set in Wales and there was some exterior filming in Wales for "The Abominable Snowmen" (for Tibet) and "The Five Doctors" (for the Death Zone on Gallifrey). Who's connection to Wales, of course, really kicks off when the various New Who shows appear on our screen.
"This has the potential to be so campy.", sesskasays, Reaction to "Delta and the Bannermen"
You're right - they go to a holiday camp!
"Oh, but Doctor, it looks. I don't know, it looks a bit grim.", Mel, "Delta and the Bannermen"
The holiday camp doesn't exist any more but various New Who stories were filmed in the general area of Barry Island.
"Welcome to Shangri La, where your dreams come true.", Burton, "Delta and the Bannermen"
Burton was played by the Welsh actor Richard Davies. But I don't care, let's talk about the dog! The dog was played by Pepsi - JNT (the producer)'s dog.
"And now, a romantic number from across the pond, for a very special lady in the audience. 'Why do fools fall in love?'", Billy, "Delta and the Bannermen"
Keff McCulloch, who wrote the incidental music for this and several other stories during this era, was on-stage as a musician cameo at the "Get To Know You" dance.
"My bounty hunter will be paid off sooner than he thinks. Arm the beacon hunter.", Gavrok, "Delta and the Bannermen"
Gavrok is played by Don Henderson. He was in lots of British TV but you might just about recognise him as General Tagge in Star Wars: A New Hope "Until this battle station is fully operational, we are vulnerable."
"Transmitter identified. Triangulate and set course.", Gavrok, "Delta and the Bannermen"
The background music when they're on the bikes recalls the famous "Dick Barton" radio show theme.
"Hey, Weismuller, do you think that's it?", "Well, I don't know. I ain't never seen a satellite before.", Hawk and Weismuller
Weismuller is played by the veteran American actor, Stubby Kaye. Indeed, before his appearance in "Delta and the Bannermen" he had only recently finished filming scenes for his part in "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?".
"You have said enough. I have traversed time and space to find the Chimeron queen. I will not be defeated.", Gavrok, "Delta and the Bannermen"
