AHTYA 2.0 – pt. 00: Course Overview

We’re renewing our beginner course for Houdini. We’re creating “Adding Houdini To Your Arsenal 2.0”. The first version was one of the earliest courses on our Patreon and is now already four years old. Houdini has changed and so should this video series. So, get ready for newer workflows, many more projects and lots of videos to get you going!

This course is meant for 3d artists proficient with a different piece of software (Cinema 4d, Blender, Maya, etc.) who want to add Houdini to their skillset or transition to Houdini as their main DCC. Through this series you will learn everything you need to know to jump into any of our other Premium Courses, most of our free content on Youtube and most other Houdini content in general online.

In this video we’ll take a quick overview over the course topics, as well as the upcoming videos and the release schedule in general.

Comments

I can't recommend a Houdini Core license for this course, as we'll make a lot of use of the different simulation engines, that Core does not include (and yeah, the different license options are a bit weird). Also the main render engine used for all teaser images is Octane, however I wouldn't recommend buying a license just for this course. Rendering is just a minor topic and you can find a lot of resources on Redshift in our rendering course here and we have a bunch of videos on rendering with Karma on Youtube. So pick the engine you like best :)

Hey! As long as you don't care about exporting or rendering, the apprentice version is all you need for the Starter Kit and probably most other parts of the course as well. To have no limitations you need an Indie License or higher.

Which version of Houdini do I need in order to complete this course please?

I love the updates highlighted in the overview. I feel like you guys did a great job with revisiting this training series. I'm excited to begin

Thank you! The theory videos could be a bit boring, if you already know your way around Houdini, but I think we have some very fun projects coming up in this course! I tried to keep those entertaining for everyone, not just beginners :)

I had already gone through most of your other courses, but you can absolutely bet that im going back to the beginning with AHTYA 2.0. Thank you guys so much.
