Chris is back with the final (regularly scheduled) episode of PDG101! And this seasons finale is all about the Top Geometry SOP. A node that gives you quick access to top nodes inside SOPs and that can be really handy, if you’re handing setups to other, less PDG-savvy people.

One more reason for using TOPS instead of for loop is access to farm. If you have farm, with deadline scheduler this process can be run on several machines in parallel.

When increasing the number of individual crystals (to no huge number, as low as 100) Houdini crashes one out of two times I cook the topgeometry node. Edit: It crashes, but I can re-open without losing the progress.

Thank you Chris, excellent series! Is there any tutorial (or chance of getting one) that covers the interaction of PDG with Solaris + MaterialX? I assume this would be the fastest built-in combo to mass render model variants.
