PDG 101 - Pt.2: Wedging

In part two of our PDG course, Chris takes you through the ins and outs of setting up wedging. You'll learn how to automatically generate multiple variations of any setup you built in SOPs.

Hi! Great tutorial. I was able to render the setup with mantra. Tried first with karma, it worked well until where you created the @cam attribute to the switcher. For some reason the rop fetch couldn't render this way. I tried building my scene in lops but there the switcher couldn't read the @cam attribute, because it was looking for local variable. Do you know if there's a workaround for using TOPs with LOPs (stage) context? Thanks in advance.

the top fetch took more than 30 mins but there is no pictures rendered completely .

Hi , I have tried to run ropfetch node with the RS scheduler , but it took a long time to render 8 images . I have tried to render without pdg , just the normal workflow , a picture with 360*360 will took 1.5 mins , I don't know why . Can you help me ? I used the project file downloaded from this page .

First of all, thanks for this series of tutorials! I have an issue where after I've pulled in the geo files from disk I do not see the geo update in tops as I check the wedged geo by clicking the work items. Any idea of what is causing this? I am on houdini v18.5.462. The ropfetch node does render the items correctly it seems but I do not get any proper feedback on the geo itself..

I don't know your scene file but I have a hunch what's the problem: Did you connect up the file sop to load the saved geometry instead of the huge sopnet that creates the berry in the first place? If not Houdini will still cook the entire net and ignore the saved geometry. Maybe check around 06:40 in the video.

Excellent! What puzzles me however is that every time I select a work item in my ROP Geo Output there is 20 seconds of cooking delay before my Scene View updates even though all my work items are cooked (green).
