Rendering 101 - pt. 28: Seamless High Key Lighting

Although not exactly contemporary, high key lighting is one of the eternal basics in studio lighting. Deceptively simple looking, it poses challenges in creating definition on your subject while maintaining a bright background and keeping your exposure balanced.

In this video Mo builds a high key studio lighting setup, showing a neat trick on how to achieve a seamless background without compositing.

Yes, Redshift has light linking on the Redshift light tag. You can either exclude specific meshes or restrict it to only include certain meshes. It can be very easy to break photorealism when using light linking though.

Hi Nelsinho, apologies but I've never used Maya. Could you describe the behavior you're trying to recreate a bit more in depth? Thx and cheers, Mo

Hello there, I have a question on other topic. Is there a way to break the light link with a specific geometry like in Maya???
