Vellum 101 - Tearing A Bag Of Grains

Short quick video today - still working through your questions regarding Vellum. Today we'll set up an example combining tearing cloth and grains. The setup is pretty straightforward, just the simulation times are a bit steeper due to increased substeps. But I guess that's the fun :)

Vellum 101 - Tearing A Bag Of Grains

Hi Kieran, sure, you can just split your geo stream into cloth and grains (e.g. using a split node set to points using the expression @isgrain==0) and then pipe this into the vellum post process and after that merge it back witht the grains. Fot the fine sand you could try copying a few smaller spheres onto each particle but in the end that's not gonna look as convincing as simply cranking up your grain count. Cheers, Mo

Hey Mo, thanks, this is really cool! Can you use vellum post process to smooth out just the cloth? When I append, the particles seem to disappear. Also with grains in general, to create a really fine sandy mix, is it just a case lowering the grain size and maybe randomising pscale, or is there another way to go about getting a really fine sand?

i am using chrome... normally dont have any issues with patreon pages and videos.

Hi Mark, that's weird. Which OS/Browser are you using? Cheers, Mo
