Particles Part 05 / 01 - Plant Growth With POPReplicate

Today we'll talk about a very important DOP. The POPReplicate. We'll create a particle system that generates procedural geometry. For this we have to create trailing particles that follow their parents locations. And we want to make the plants branch. For both we need to replicate particles.  In this first half of the Part05 tutorial we'll create the main stems and put leaves on them. You'll learn about inheriting attributes and POP streams while working on the setup. The second half of the tutorial, that'll come soon, will deal with the branching. Have fun in the particle garden.

Comments

They get set to zero once they are under 0.1 which they will reach by taking them done to 90% per iteration.

Joerg Fluegge

At 8:00, why do the velocities converge to zero? Wouldn't continuously multiplying by 90% cause the particles to keep slowing down but never actually stop? How does the velocity reach 0?

Just published part two
