Vellum 101 - Soft Constraining Grains & Soft Bodies

EDIT: Updated/Added Scene File For H19

Weirdly enough we've been receiving quite a few questions regarding soft constraining Vellum objects in the past days, so why not answer them in a short quicktip.

In this video we'll go over setting up soft constraints for animating vellum grains and soft bodies.

Vellum 101 - Soft Constraining Grains & Soft Bodies

Comments

Added an updated version for H19. The culprit is the optimized collision detection for grains which assumes grains have uniform radii. Which in our case they don't have. To fix it, go to the Vellum solver's "Advanced" tab and under "grain collisions" uncheck "assume uniform radius". Cheers, Mo

Any reason this grains simulation doesn’t work in 19.0? Works as described in 18.5, but in 19.0 I get an attribute mismatch “name” in the merge and the simulation vanishes after frame 1. Thanks!

How could you go about using a popnet as your colliding grain source?

Uuuh - including a soft body collider! Neat! :) Cheers, Mo

Amazing thanks for all the great knowledge. I am sure this is along the same lines as this, but could you please cover something like this, where the spheres interact with each other but also fill a box/other kind of shape? Thanks! https://www.instagram.com/p/Bie2zt1n_9o/?utm_source=ig_embed
