VEX101 - Arrays & Foreach-Loops

You'll need them when building lists, saving connectivity information on your mesh or when looking up nearby points: Arrays.

In theory nothing more than a list of values, arrays are handy for quite a few things we'll encounter frequently when developing VEX scripts. This tut gets you started with the basic theory and usage of arrays.

You might also want to have a look at SideFX's help page on arrays: http://www.sidefx.com/docs/houdini/vex/arrays.html

VEX101 - Arrays & Foreach-Loops

Hmm... I think as long as you're staying in VEX and don't start usign SOP-level loops, the speed difference should be negelegible. Should. Haven't benchmarked it yet - if you happen to do so, please share your results, I'm intrigued! Cheers, Mo

one question, in js foreach loops can be frowned upon because they take a lot longer to calculate than a for loop. Is thiss the case in houdini, do your foreach loops slow down the workspace or render at all?

Hey Moritz, the design in the intro to this video is super nice. Is there any chance that we could rebuild something similar in this course? Cheers! Gus
