Michael Mantenuto who played Jack O'Callahan . Joined the Army after his acting kinda fizzled. He was a Green Beret and had won quite a few medals, he also started a youth hockey program through the military. However sadly, He took his own life by a self inflicted gunshot while stationed at Ft. Lewis, Wa. He was found in his car in a parking area at nearby state park. :(

2025-06-21 23:20:19 +0000 UTCWhen he had them doing sprints after the game in Europe,. my football coach in high school had us do similar sprints right after the game when we didn't play to our full potential even if we won. Looking back, glad he did. We went on to State and it was a good learning experience. That being said, Cox getting cut, I believe the real reason he was the last one cut was he unfortunately had been suffering from an ankle injury that just wouldn't get better in time. And he had to cut one more, so it was the right choice, but still sucks. But he went on to play pro. What makes this film magical is how they intertwined the commentary which is taken from the real game and have the actors doing exactly what Al Michaels is saying on commentary.. Attention to details is what makes this movie one of the best sports movies ever in my opinion. Another good sports movie is called, MacFarland, USA. About a high school cross country team in MacFarland, California. Stars Kevin Costner. Very good film, by family loves it and watches it about once a year.

The Greatest Game Ever Played stars Shia LeBeouf and Stephen Dillane and directed by Bill Paxton. Glory Road stars Josh Lucas, Derek Luke, John Voight, and Emily Deschanel.
