Loved watching this with y'all! I actually think we've had a modern movie that parallels The Neverending Story. Everything Everywhere All at Once isn't necessarily about grief, but the way the film addresses the estrangement between the mother and the daughter is very much like what the Neverending Story has to say about childhood loss and depression.

2025-04-01 04:29:08 +0000 UTCThere are a couple of sequels (I think #3 has a bit part for a young Jack Black even) and it’s been decades since I watched either of them but I don’t remember them being very good (whereas I’ll watch this over and over again). But opinions vary and everyone is welcome to form their own. 🙂
