2025-03-12 00:50:26 +0000 UTCI know you both say you like the movie better, but I think the audience you are talking to, myself included, appreciate the play more, because we culturally identify with everything that's going on on the stage. From every joke (doesn't have to be explained) to song to the storyline and talking about Jesus it's how we as black people carry with each other. We like the movie, but the movie leaves out a lot of elements the play brings, so it can be shown to a bigger audience. TP early plays had such an impact on all our households with those bootleg copies going around, it was really something we could share as a community. And after my grandma died in 2003 those plays became healing through laughter.
