I didn’t like the idea of the shield going to anyone else when the series started either and I had no knowledge of the John walker character before the show so I was worried too. But the writers presented him as a real person who was nervous but wanted to do his best instead of a mustache twirling villain. That gave me permission to give the guy a chance (still didn’t wanted him having the the shield tho). Sam’s reason for not wanting the shield will be explained in a later episode and it’s a valid reason. At first sight you might think it’s imposter syndrome but it’s a little deeper than that. The bank scene was also rooted in racism. The manager was dismissive of Sam and his sister the second they sat down. The fact that Sam is the Falcon was just a novelty to him because he still had no intention of giving them a loan.

Also the whole giving up the shield is important for sam's character development. This whole series will deal with sam's guilt. There will be a small group of people who think sam doesn't deserve the shield, I hope this series and future sam wilson projects will help prove that sam is the most worthy. Also I agree. I LOVE THE THERAPIST lol

2025-01-31 05:56:48 +0000 UTCI am pretty familiar with the comic books, so once I saw John Walker at the end of episode 1, I knew who he was and where things would probably be going. Sam is definitely having imposter syndrome, but as you watch the show you will get even more insight and understanding.
