The way I understood the original spell is this way: with the original spell spiderman would still be an avenger, they just wouldn't know spiderman's identity. It's not a time reversal spell so it doesn't negate anything in the past. He's the same spiderman just with the secret again. He even had the option to go back and tell mj and ned his identity again but chose not to. I love this reaction because Kristen knows the other spiderman stories so she is able to connect to all the villains stories. I think the most impactful moment for me is when spiderman 3 saves MJ. He has been thinking about gwen since he wasn't able to save her so being able to save someone this time probably means so much for him. He was the spiderman I grew up with. I also agree with Kristen's criticism of the multiverse. If anything can happen it makes it harder for things to be impactful. They gotta really make sure to have good writing with these multiverse stories otherwise it becomes a bad episode of What If.

The whole multiverse "saga" is something that doesn't really work for me personally, but I think they did a great job making it actually cool in this one. Overalll it definitely makes my Top 10 out of all of the MCU - I'd have to be really honest with myself and parse it out to extreme degrees to determine if it's in my top 5, but it's definitely a possibility.

While Strange said stop talking, Peter started wanting more and more changes. So it is Peter's fault for the spell going as wrong as it did.
