I relate to you saying that at a certain age you will start to not like some of the music that’s out there. Think I am starting to get there myself, but I always liked the music that my parents liked so I might have gotten a head start on that. lol Hell, I had a Ritchie Valens CD and a Buddy Holly CD before I even watched the film La Bamba for the first time and that was when I was 7 when I watched it for the first time.

Also fun fact: The Johnny B. Good scene that actually is Michael J. Fox playing guitar but he is not singing. The professional singer that was singing also did the singing voice of Eddie in the film, Eddie and the Cruisers. If you have not seen Eddie and the Cruisers I highly recommend it. One of the most underrated movie soundtracks of all time, and unique film about a fictional band. What’s unique is the combine a musical band film with a mystery thriller film. Worth the watch.

The makers of Back to the Future actually wanted to make it with Michael J. Fox first, but he had scheduling problems with his hit TV Series Family Ties, so they cast Eric Stoltz first. They shot it with Eric, but he took it as a serious drama and did not get the humor of the film, and it was not working, so they had to fire him. The filmmakers knew that it would only work with Michael J. Fox and they sent the script to Back to the Future to the creator of Family Ties and asked for help to get Michael on board. The creator of Family Ties gave the script to Michael after they gave it to him and told him that he read it and it was amazing and if he wanted to do it it was fine with him but he would have would still have to do everything with Family Ties to. Michael read the script took the part, but had to act in both Family Ties and Back to Future at the same time. A lot of time he was working 20 hours a day till the end of shooting Back to the Future from going back and forth from the two projects.

Fun fact: the guy at the band audition scene was Huey Lewis, the singer of the song.
