I think Lucy gray’s character is supposed to be gray. It’s not a love story. It’s about Snow, so not connecting with Lucy Gray is kinda the point. She says “it’s a mystery sweetheart” and I think that amplifies her character perfectly. We want to know more about her but this movie is told through Snow’s perspective like the book. I don’t think they could’ve made a case to have a show. I don’t folks would have supported it. Especially with all new actors that no one knows. I don’t anyone would’ve picked it up. Movie was best was way to do this.
