I was 13 years old when this came out. I honestly don’t remember anyone thinking, at the time, that Sue and Tommy were in on it. Nowadays, every one I’ve seen react to this film has initially thought they were. I think that people are more suspicious and less trusting of characters in movies now. Considering all the films that have dealt with sketchy characters that have come out since then, it’s not surprising. Besides, it does make it more entertaining when people suddenly realize Sue and Tommy were good after all.

It is the first film Peter Jackson directed for an American Studio and it’s one of the last live-action leading roles Michael J. Fox had in a film. It is also produced by Robert Zemeckis.
