When Logan brought Ken to the boys family I see it as Logan forcing his son to face the consequences of his actions even if its in a limited way. Kens not going to jail but hes forced to have to see the family whose life he destroyed. Logan only thought to bring Ken after Ken talked about going to hang out with his new girlfriend at the zoo. Ken talks about going to the zoo right after making sure Logan was going to cover his ass again and visit the boys family. From Logans perspective, I think its a risk but its the correct move especially if you want you son to be able to handle trauma and move on. Why should Logan go clean up Kens bloody mess while Ken gets to go on a play date at the zoo.
