Both are the two best disaster films ever made. The Poseidon Adventure was nominated for 9 Academy Awards including Best Supporting Actress and The Towering Inferno was nominated for 8 Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Supporting Actor. Also, both films can be terrifying at times and a lot of the stunts were done by the actors themselves.
