Hey Jaby, I thought you would like the series' take on dowry. Honestly, I didn't think it was overdone at all and I am someone who has seen this narrative a lot of times. The reason this was different and had my blood boiling when the groom shamefully supported this, is because this was sprung on the wedding day. Thats really screwed up and I expected the groom to be oblivious of his parents' schemes. Shweta walking out on him is honestly one of the best scenes to me in this series. Anyways I hope you enjoy the rest. :)

Its nice to see that there's a world where they don't even understand the concept of dowry. Whereas this regressive ritual is so prevelant here in Asia where its like the girl is going to stay and eat at the groom's home forever, so you gotta pay for that life. Parents of daughters here in the village keep saving their hard earned money all their life so they can marry off their daughter and an entitled guy agrees to take her away to his home. Daughters are treated like burdens on parents and son as gifts. Reasons why people under poverty and literacy even burn their daughters alive or kill them when they are in the womb. Pray pray pray for a son. And the welloffs, they give furnitures, diamonds, cars and what not to marry off even their doctor daughters to grooms. My maid whose husband is dead is saving her salary not for her daughter's education but for her dowry, and she is just 7 years old. There is no escape to this. An extremely depressing and disgusting society is where we live in Jaby. I am glad there is a world in the west where people like you dont even understand the concept. Gives me hope.
