Podcasting Day: Power Teams with Erik Wolpaw 🌭
Added 2022-11-09 13:00:10 +0000 UTCThis week we’re joined by Erik Wolpaw, the visionary game writer behind games like Psychonauts and Portal 2. There was only one thing we wanted to talk to him about: Power Team, the 1990 video game series starring nobody and nothing you heard of, and also Bigfoot. Let’s do a team roll call!
The monster truck! This is the only correct choice on the Power Team roster. Every team should have one monster truck on it, from superpowered to legal.
The brutal, murderous rogue cop from NARC. The perfect hero for the ‘90s, and then never again!
The barbarian from Wizards & Warriors that you are surprised to learn had a name!
A black man, and no other things!
Just a big red orb and the coolest tomato this side of the Sprite Spot, he was-
Wait, hold on. Something’s gone wrong here. Are we actually talking about the strong Christian madmen who destroyed whole towns back in the ‘90s? Are we doing both? That doesn’t even make sense.
We’re doing both.
In a move the Power Team would surely approve of, we have a confusing new shirt for sale with a muddled message that may accidentally insinuate the devil is a Mormon!
The only way we could get more Power Team is if we tore a tendon ripping a frying pan in half in a 1991 Elk’s Lodge.

You don’t need to wonder aloud what was in the heart of the creator and defer judgment accordingly. There’s no such thing as a racist heart or a racist stain on one’s soul. Just shitty actions that we can call shitty when we see them.

2022-11-11 17:56:28 +0000 UTCThis podcast made me weirdly happy. Weirdly because it wasn't the subject that made me happy(though that was both fucked up and awesome), but it was because Seanbaby teaming up with Eric again took me all the way back to when I discovered that somebody invented being funny on the internet. I am going to go back and read all the old Seanbaby.com articles like the Laser Internet Film Squad now.

2022-11-10 02:07:08 +0000 UTCUnironically, someone needs to send Sandy Petersen that shirt, or at least tell him it exists, because theres a 50/50 chance he'll find it the funniest thing he's ever seen.

2022-11-09 21:38:59 +0000 UTCThe Lord's Force from Workaholics was based on a real thing? We never got cool stuff like this. Apparently there aren't enough Jewish bodybuilders, so we had to settle for Superman.

2022-11-09 16:38:49 +0000 UTCI know I've got a couple Power Team comics that my uncle gave me and my brother in probably the mid-late 90s around somewhere. If they're where I think they are I can post some pics on the discord later. I don't remember a whole lot about them but I can't imagine they've aged very well.

2022-11-09 16:05:24 +0000 UTCWe always knew VIDEO POWER would find its way here. I just didn't expect the bastard to strike while we were distracted by the midterm results. All hands enter your Konami Code and prepare for war.

2022-11-09 13:07:58 +0000 UTCMan, I remember seeing them when I was a kid. Even as a child, I remember thinking the connection between weightlifting and church stuff was tenuous at best. Because I was an enormous nerd, I did have a Power Team-branded Bible.
