Happy Anime Week! On today’s podcast, we’re joined by Supa Kawaii Lydia Bugg to talk about a 30-minute romantic comedy OVA from 1992 called Kennel Tokorozawa.
It’s a lighthearted romp about a young girl whose family runs a pet store, and her overprotective dog. Doesn’t sound like our usual thing? We’re covering this one because it’s the only anime that Jimmy Onishi, our favorite rashy little kobold man from Documental, has ever done.
He voices the dog! Hilarious mess Jimmy Onishi as a talking dog was simply too adorable for us to pass up, so we hit play and braced ourselves for some fun!

A friend listened to this episode the other day while we were hanging out and I agreed it sounded awful but without this crime would Ebichu never have existed, I asked ... and then had to explain about the adult anime comedy about a hamster watching her owner fuck and was met with blank looks. BUT SURELY, I thought, other patrons of the hotdog will have brought up the horny anime told from the point of view of the hamster. Now I just feel silly.

The book ends with them going out for a meal "and a dessert of Japanese sausage." I don't think I've ever really stopped cringing from that ending.

Though at least less disturbing than Elfin Lied, a romantic comedy/ultra-violent gore horror that includes the protagonist murdering her kindergarten class, then later dismembering a teenage girl (whose quadruple amputation is later played for laughs...)

2022-05-25 22:34:25 +0000 UTCI feel like, by defending this OVA in even a small way, that I'm jumping on a grenade after having pulled the pin myself while completely alone in a field (in that nobody was in danger by not knowing this, nothing of value is gained in learning this, and I am putting myself in harm's way for no reason). BUUUT it needs be remarked that the Japanese language doesn't have a "ti" (pronounced TEE) sound, and "chi" is its closest equivalent. It's a lot like how there isn't a distinction between "L" and "R" sounds in Japanese, so you have stuff like the English words "clash" and "crash" being homonyms. "Tin Tin" just IS pronounced like "Chin Chin" over there, meaning that word association between "famous movie dog" and "penis" isn't even any kind of a stretch to begin with. You legitimately can't pronounce "Rin Tin Tin" in Japanese without also inadvertently saying "penis". That said, to take that connection and make an OVA all about a sex pest dog is fucking wild.

Did a little googling on the people involved and Cheryl Wheeler-Sanders, the producer presumably being stalked by that comic writer, died in 2020 after a fairly extensive career as a stuntwoman in films like Lethal Weapon 3 and 4, Die Hard 2, Demolition Man and many others. Ok, but what makes it typical "all Hotdog roads lead to darkness" material? She died in a gunfight with her ex-husband after she and her present husband ambushed and attacked him because of a dispute over a trust fund for the two daughters she had with the ex. There is no escape, all roads lead to the darkness. None of you are safe.

2022-05-25 18:18:06 +0000 UTCwell i know maybe this isnt the point of the documentary your talking about but im reading a holistic guide to a healthy dog and it says for oversexed male dogs use Cinchona Officinalis (also if they are belching bitter liquids or there stool is frothy and yellow with gas) BUT if its actually abnormal sexual desire you should use Hydrophobinum so maybe give that dog a blend

That would be like him seeing comedy god. He then mashed that obvious gold with the popular romance manga sub-category of 'two students forced to live together navigate a blooming love and the pressure of social norms/expectations'. Except instead of being in love she hates him. Knowing that doesn't excuse any of it and I regret every moment of my life that led to this knowledge.
