That was HILARIOUS

I'll go with imDb on that one 9,7/10!

What did you think of this episode??

I totally agree that, so often, as soon as guys show affection towards each other, someone is there to throw out a label. It’s not exactly encouraging for those who might not be as comfortable with expressing emotions in the first place. And that’s just it (as you said) suggesting peoples' whole lives are a lie is disrespectful and kinda gross, and over invested TBH.

Lol! I appreciate you calling my rambling "a comprehensive comment"! Sounds way more impressive. 😄 Yes, I generally don't care who someone ships, but it does bother me that guys are often nailed for displaying toxic masculinity (rightfully so) but then when they're openly affectionate with each other and say how they love each other, they're immediately labeled as a couple, and it's said that they're lying to the public about being straight. I think that's very insulting to them and their wives. It obviously isn't an insult to call someone gay, but it's rude to say they're life is a lie. If someone told me they were gay I would never scoff and say, "Pfft! As if! You're clearly straight and in love with your female costar!" Like, wtf? Lol! So, why is it okay to say the boys are lying? People do the same thing with Jensen and Misha. 😏 Just let them love each other platonically, and let's just enjoy their friendship! I know I do! 💓

This is a seriously comprehensive comment! You’ve explained the title really well, here. Ah, the tinhats. Many people just can’t accept the fact that guys can love each other and be good friends without it having to be anything else (on screen and in real life).

I didn't know who the actor was and they've done the behind the scenes episode before so I couldn't get into to it. I didn't know what the episode had to do with plot line of season.

Sorry, this will be a very long rambly comment. So much in this episode! This was absolutely amazing! I love how many times you went back to catch the things you were missing by laughing, or just to see the funny parts again. It's one of my favourite episodes of the series, for sure! Some tidbits I jotted down that I thought were interesting and also, I'll try to answer some of your questions throughout. 1. They did film exclusively in Vancouver and the surrounding areas. 2. They have a fake studio in this episode called K M Studios; that's in honor of Kim Manners, the producer and director that was a part of the show up until the beginning of season 4 when he passed away quite suddenly from cancer. He was very well loved. Throughout the seasons, at pivotal moments, you'll often hear characters encourage each other by saying, "Kick it in the ass." That's because that was what Kim used to say all the time as motivation. 😔 3. The french guy on set was Serge Ladouceur (played by an actor) who was the Cinemtographer on 319 out of 327 episodes of the show. He's the reason the boys are always lit, so incredibly beautifully and the scenes always look so wonderful. The boys have both talked about what an amazing genius he is. He was also a co-producer on the show. 4. The other crew members (all played by actors) were Bob Singer (director/producer), Sera Gamble, (writer/show runner in S6 and S7) Eric Kripke, (the creator and show runner/writer for the first 5 seasons) Jim Michaels (producer), Kevin Parks (1st Assistant Director - basically the stage manager, tasked with keeping everyone on schedule - not an easy job with these nutters! 😁) 5. The only crew who actually played themselves in this episode were Lou Bollo, the stunt coordinator, and Todd Scott, and Mike Carpenter, both stunt doubles for Jensen and Jared respectively. They were the ones who broke up the fight between "Jensen", "Jared" and the "stunt double". Lol! 6. The real Bob Singer only agreed to let them use his name, cause Bobby was just supposed to appear in one episode. But then we all loved him so much, that he stuck around and Bob Singer looked like a jackass that named a character after himself! Lol! 7. The boys had no kids yet. Jared's first son was born towards the end of S7. Jensen's first daughter was born towards the end of S8. :) 8. Jared and Jensen both had apartments in Vancouver, but their homes were in Austin, TX where their wives and (eventually) their kids lived. 9. Misha's only request in the script was that they make him a douchebag, hence his pushing away the makeup artist and his "good night little fella!" 😄😄 Also, on the night the episode aired, he actually tweeted the messages that "Misha" sends out in the episode. Love it! Also, imo, this can't really be our actual world, because, Misha, Eric, Bob, Kevin, and Lou are all still alive. Thank God! 😊 And, of course, in our world, Jared and Jensen are the BEST of friends. So, it's a world VERY close to our, but not quite. 😊 Loved this reaction as always! 😍 P.S. The Urban Dictionary description of a "French Mistake" is as follows: 'When an otherwise straight male is persuaded to, or on a whim in the heat of the moment, engages in a homosexual act of which he later regrets and is ashamed.' I think the title is kind of teasing the fact that so many people shipped J2 in real life (and many still do) saying that they couldn't possibly have that kind of chemistry and not be hooking up. 🙄 Not my thing at all. I see them as best friends and brothers, but there are people who refer to themselves as "J2 Tinhats" that are convinced they're living a lie with their wives and are a couple IRL. 🙄🤷🏼‍♀️😏 I think that's what the title is making a reference to/making fun of. It's also, why in the episode they "weren't talking to each other" - because of their embarrassment over The French Mistake. 😆😆

Hi Evie, I absolutely love this episode just like most of the fandom. I think it was so clever to have Balthazar send them to a different reality which turns out to be our reality. And seeing them make fun of themselves was hilarious. I wonder how hard and confusing it was for Jared and Jensen to play Sam and Dean playing Jared and Jensen. And that scene were they had to act really badly. Oh my god. 😂 I have also wondered if that was Jensen’s trailer. I have seen videos on YouTube of them from their trailer and it looks a lot like that. The crew, Bob Singer and Eric Kripke etc. were played by actors in this episode. If I remember correctly, J2 shared a house in the first couple years of the show. I remember interviews of them talking about getting ready in the morning. Jared liked to workout and had dogs. Their driver, Cliff, is a real person, but was played by an actor in the episode. He is their bodyguard and they talk about him at their conventions. I recently saw something that stated Jared and Gen never really had an Alpaca in their backyard. That was just for the episode. And of course the talk about them not getting along is not true IRL. They have been doing conventions for the entire 15 seasons and are very close. Even Gen and Jensen’s wife Danneel are close. In fact, the boys are still doing conventions 2 years after the show ended. I saw them in 2018 and got a picture with Jared, Jensen and Misha. The Impala was parked outside the convention center and took a selfie with it. I wish I could post them here. The three of them were behind me with their arms around me. I sent you a clip of Jensen and Jared’s son Thomas when he was little. He called Jensen “Unca Jensen” which just shows how close they really are. It’s also obvious watching them interact on stage at their conventions telling stories about each other. They may not be blood brothers, but they are brothers. Earlier this year, Jensen directed an episode of Jared’s TV show and they said it was good because they know each other and how they work. It was like no time has passed.

I love this episode too. So good. I believe a couple of the real crew members were in this, but that was not Eric Kripke, or Bob Singer. But it doesn't matter, it's a great episode. Misha was adorable in this.
