And yes Meredith (that by the way at that time, the actress Torrey DeVito was Paul Wesley wife) is a Fell, one of the founding family, related to Logan Fell, I think he was her cousin.

Damon said to Elena that he hate witches they are fickle, he insulted them and they heard that. That is why Damon got the witch treatment, but as soon as he got on their side they stopped.

That kiss was much overdue, but Damon so far as soon as she was getting close he would always tell her something about his brother to stop her, but this time he couldn't stop himself because it was natural, they both wanted it, he kissed her and she kissed him back. Stefan is in the picture because they never voluntarily split up and because he is clearly in need of help, it wouldn't be Elena if she left Stefan in the lurch. She still have feelings for him but her feeling for him are much connected with the past, with what went on between them, with the circumstance them meet, etc.

Stefan is now concentrated on revenge on Klaus and don't care about anybody else. It is a first step to go back from humanity off.
