Thanks, I try to err on the side of caution when it comes such matters. Well, look at how far Damon and Elena have come in just 9 episodes from the start of the season. I try not to let my own bias show, but I do have them as you can see who I focus on. I think that is the source of my caution, I don't want my own biases to influence your watching experience. It's as you bring up in your response to Patpet, how well the show makes you want to see her with both.

2021-05-16 14:45:46 +0000 UTCFor sure, it's what makes doing the rewatches fun and generally I do try to avoid making such references so as not to spoil the fun of a rewatch. Yet, I wanted to bring up this matter because we see how much Damon has changed since the first encounter as well as Elena. Also, as a reference point for when you to do a rewatch eventually, how they subtly do this in the show. There is always some form of cross referencing that is taking place.

The thing I am really excited about and I know it's a long way from here is a rewatch.. because these kind of similarities between scenes happening in previous seasons will get noticed on my part on a second watch. So I feel like I'm going to have a blast rewatching everything :) As for Elijah, HE IS THE BOSS, it's crazy lol like Patpet said he does maximum damage with minimum effort and that's why he is so scary! Last but not least.... Caroline stole my heart, I never thought I would like her that much but here we are :D

2021-05-15 23:43:52 +0000 UTCI agree that Elena is super loyal to Stefan and I love that, I wouldn't want something to happen while a relationship is going on, but mannnn the sexual tension is so strong! This show is so good at making us want Elena to be with both because they are so different and would be completely two different relationships! In the next episodes I surprised myself at liking and shipping Tyler and Caroline together.... that's a lot for me ahahha if it happens he needs to be extremely good to Caroline because just like you, I ADORE her<3

Once you realize they are roughly the same scene with different circumstances taking place the scene takes on a deeper meaning. There is also the simple fact that Elena is realizing she is one on the receiving end of what she had to say about Damon and love in 1x13. Elena: You know...I really think that Damon believes that everything he's done, every move that he's made, he's done for love. It's twisted, but kind of sad. Which brings us to what is taking place in this episode actually and Elena's own actions, I just realized.

2021-05-15 16:58:09 +0000 UTCWell, I wouldn't say that Stefan isn't as secure with Elena's love as you would put it. Yes Elena at this point is still super loyal and in love with Stefan, you know my deeper thoughts concerning this matter. Yet, only in the previous episode we had the immediate thought that while questioning Caroline that she thought Elena was with Damon. I think also this has more to do with how Stefan notices how Elena acts and treats Damon than anything Damon is actually doing. It shows just a small level of mistrust that Stefan has I feel in my opinion, what he says in the previous episode. Oh another interesting point, is that I'm not even sure if Stefan and Elena are technically back together yet by this episode. It's never clearly stated, like we know after the break up in 2x06 and at the end of 2x07 though Stefan is expecting her to get right back with him once Katherine was taking care of her and trusting her love and willingness that this would take place, when it actually didn't. So, I'm not sure if the ending of 2x08 was them restarting the relationship again officially or not though. I don't know if there is a moment of them stating they are back together, were as it's easy to find the moments when it's stated they are on a break.

2021-05-15 16:46:47 +0000 UTCOne of the amazing things this show does, is certain scenes will be used for viewers, to call back or remember something from before. The scene between Damon and Elena is one such scene when she tries to punch him. This scene is meant for us to refer back to the scene from 1x07 after Vicki is killed and Elena confronts Damon about life mattering and he knows it. She tries to hit him, he stops her the fist time, then she actually does hit him. The situation is now reverse in that Damon is actually showing her that her life does matter and it matters to him. That he will protect her life. As we see Elena though is of course is concerned about everyone else life as well and how they matter to her and those she love life's are more important to her than her own life. This gets brought up three times in this episode by Elena. The first time in the kitchen with both brothers, then the next two times while she is with Damon. What do we see Elena and Damon doing though in both of these situations, from the first season and now here in this episode? I love how you reacted to Elijah just being the boss and ripping out the two hearts also. What you say about Matt is actually pretty true also about his character in the point in the show. He is just sort of lost in the shuffle. Also you picked up on the Caroline and Tyler matter. I really do like Caroline this season.

2021-05-15 16:21:26 +0000 UTCSometimes in this episode people tent to misread Damon's behvious with Elena as macho, I'm glad you don't share the vision. In my opinion he was rightfully angry. He had to leave to save her from a suicidal mission, to return to find that the other Gilbert cause his brother to be stuck in the tomb, and if that wasn't enough she wanted to run inside like she could save Stefan by herself....their bickering though sounded like an old married couple thing 😁

2021-05-15 15:39:28 +0000 UTCThere is clear sexual tension between Damon and Elena, and Ian and Nina are masters of nuances in that department. That scene when Damon is holding Elena fist and is getting close to her face from above is very sensual. And it's true he is establishing boundries. It is obvious that there will be some push and pull in the love triangle and that the equation of the love of the brothers and the love for Elena is a push and pulls in one or another direction. But Elena is super loyal to Stefan and there is no doubt that she loves him, Stefan realize that and that is the reason why, even if he knows that Damon is in love with her, his trust of his brother to keep her safe and the trust he has at this point of Elena’s love is much stronger than any petty jealousy. To be honest at this point I couldn’t get Elena wanting to be a martyr. To break the curse Klaus will still need a witch, a vampire, a werewolf and a doppelganger, is not that if she dies the others will be spared. I understand she doesn’t want to cross him, and Katherine story scare her to death. But still...she is giving up any hope of finding a solution. I bet Damon went around a lot and two super gorgeous brothers vampire must have got the attention among the ladies vampire community.... that must be the reason of his fame. Stefan is stuck in the tomb with Katherine. She had such a grin of happiness on her face. Poor Tyler a curse like his you wouldn’t wish it on your worse enemy, but he has Caroline to help him, How much I adore Caroline is beyond words. And in the next episode Michael Trevino will have the chance to show off his excellent acting skills. To be honest the level of acting among this cast is spectacular. Last but not list Elijah he is such a wow in any possible sense, with his calm and control, maximum damage with minimum effort and he is gorgious. I can’t wait for you to see the next two episodes...they are so good.
