Shin Kaioken was a technique developed initially by Old Kai, over 75 million years before age.
Before Old Kai was able to finalize the technique, he was fused with a witch, and his body grew frail. While this didn't completely disallow him to use the technique, it was effectively too dangerous to try.
Beerus, acutely aware of the power the Shin Kaioken could grant, but more importantly aware of the possible repercussions of the technique, sparked an argument with Old Kai, claiming that he wouldn't allow him to use or teach the technique to others. After Old Kai's refusal of Beerus' terms, and smug in the idea that Beerus couldn't really hurt him, for his own sake, Beerus surprised him by instead sealing him away in the Z Sword.
(fun fact: After rumors of the Shin Kaioken spread amongst the other kais, it stayed just that, until King Kai decided to create his own technique in the image of what it was said to accomplish. Thus, the weaker yet more sustainable Kaioken was invented.)
The Shin Kaioken works via arbitrary levels, not by multiplier. (Ex. Shin Kaioken I, II, III...)
Each level amplifies a user's strength, speed, and senses and each level is more potent than the last at an almost exponential gain. Even the initial state (Level I) of Shin Kaioken allows average mortals to rival God Ki users.
The Shin Kaioken uses the concept of condensing one's lifespan into useable energy in the moment. While utilizing the Shin Kaioken, the user will experience a grand deal of physical strain immediately, but the unseen effects shrink their time left alive. Each level has a greater impact on a mortal's remaining lifespan, this is why it's ideal for the user to possess pseudo or perfect immortality.
The immediate, strenuous effects of the Shin Kaioken are relative. One cannot out-train the negative impact that the technique has on their body. The best way to mitigate permanent bodily damage is by having a good recovery method, and to not use the technique for extended periods of time.
(note: The effects of the Shin Kaioken on undead individuals are lesser, but still present. They do not need to worry about their lifespan shrinking, just the damage to their immediate, undead body.)
Aura of the Shin Kaioken is made of 3 layers. A thick, inner section, solid in color. A thin, outer-most section, the same color. Finally, a darker, nebulous/gaseous-textured section in between the two. Lightning arcs between the inner and outer-most layers. Finally, there are flecks of energy that float around within the aura.
While using the technique, the aura takes on an Aquamarine color.
Hope ya like it! :P
